I saw the Shining Star of Light plugged in guild chat and decided to try to earn it on my level 6 Halfling Cleric, but have experienced nothing but failure in my quest. Read about the quest here:
https://wiki.project1999.com/Cure_for_Lempeck_Hargrin
Failure #1: I turned the Honey Jum in to Astaed Wemor on my cleric without knowing about the faction requirement. He ate it.
Failure #2: Made a Paladin alt to do turn-ins for me. Turned the Potion in to Lempeck Hargrin in WK and it was the wrong potion - so he killed me and I lost my progress.
Failure #3: Got the wrong potion again, so Lempeck killed me again.
Failure #4: Thought I'd be smart and get two Honey Jums for turn-ins so I wouldn't have to do the run from Rivervale to Qeynos again in case of another failure. Except the Honey Jum turned out to be lore, so Kizzie Mintopp ate my 3 Honeycombs and 30 gold.
Failure #5: In my frustration and desperation I wasn't thinking clearly, skipped the Astaed Wemor step, and turned the Honey Jum straight in to Lempeck. He ate it.
So that's where things stand now. In total I'm out 15 Honey Combs and 15 plat, plus several hours doing the Rivervale -> Qeynos run 4 times. But I'm determined to get this thing in spite of my own idiocy!

Yeah. This game was so unforgiving.
If it makes you feel any better, I messed up the final turn in for J boots on my old necro by giving Hasten TOO MUCH copper. Yes, giving him more copper than he required caused the quest to fail.
The pain still hasn't completely gone away.

Keep at it! I got it today for my brother's level 7 Paladin on the sixth try. Totally worth it. I about jumped out of my chair with joy when he finally gave me the Rusty Scythe back instead of murdering my poor little mule!

I am totally doing this quest. When you receive the potion, it can be the wrong one? Do you need identify to check?

Yes Identify will tell you if you have the right one.
I was afraid to do this quest because of the 50% fail rate on a bad potion that makes you die

6 is the magic number apparently!
I just updated the wiki.
Warning: If you attempt this quest with indifferent faction to priests of life, including the indifferent you get from Sneaking, YOU WILL HAVE YOUR HONEY JUM EATEN.
Just another bump in the road in my shit journey lately.

It'll feel amazing when you finally get the turn in that works.
I did it once more and succeeded using a paladin alt. I then used that trip to murder trumpy and grab a thex note, so I could go to faydwer and grab my bloodforge hammer and thex dagger at once. My little halfling cleric has some cool stuff now. Just have to use the thex for a caster alt someday

wise. the daniels became very wealthy running this loop, shouting about daniel day-lewis and shaming the uggos as we went. there are more quests you can add, too.
rudely, powerful Palaman did not get cheevo for first successful turnin!

So cool! I love it that Identify actually has applications! The only other use for Identify that I can think of is making sure you have the right Piece of a Medallion for the VP key quest, but maybe there are other uses.

So, you need a caster to cast a spell on you while you have the item picked up on your cursor?
Classes that cast Identify
Necromancer - Level 20
Wizard - Level 16
Magician - Level 16
Enchanter - Level 16

Exactly. But you missed ONE CLASS that can Identify!! Does anyone know what it is?
ALSO - once the Star of Eyes quest is put in (Temple of Sol Ro era?), anyone can quest a Star of Eyes and use it (from inventory) for instant-click Identify on any class.

So, I have farmed and purchased hundreds of bone chips near Qeynos and my dwarf is still apprehensive with those damn human paladins. I understand that I should be amiable before I waste my honey jum, but this bone chip faction is whack.
Anyone know any other quests I can do to bump that faction up as a dwarf warrior or should I give up and make a human pally just for the turn ins?

You should for two reasons: factions and convienant quest failure if you get the wrong potion it doesnt matter :p

Do we know the exact name of the (identified) potion needed? I am not sure that the wiki states this little detail that will get you murdered for handing in the incorrect potion.
There's a note that tells you what the identify text should read, on the "Cure for Lempack" wiki page:
NOTE: Sometimes he goes crazy and attacks you at this point. This is most likely related to the potion you give him. The potion that identifies as "Potion of Disease Warding" is the one you want. If it identifies as "Ochre Potion Disease Ward" or anything else, you'll get attacked.

Thanks for that note. Can you buy the 'potion of disease warding' from a vendor in Qeynos or is this some special NO DROP version of that same potion?

The only tradeable parts of the quest are the Honey Jum and the Mace itself.

Welp, I gave up trying to get my dwarf up from Apprehensive to Amiable (I guess it takes approx 1,000 gold coins to turn in 2 at a time for a faction boost). Bone chips were useless!
I made a Human Pally and turned in the Honey Jum to get the potion, I then found a caster to help me Identify and it was the correct 'Potion of Disease Warding' (lucky me!). I then died as a lvl 1 in the dark a couple of times as I made my way to WK to find Lempeck, he gave me the Rusty Scythe and I ran back to get my shiny new mace! Easy peasy, thanks all!
