I made it to level 9 !!! However, today was the pits. Managed to get two bubbles in about five or six hours, because nobody wants to group with anything other than a mage or a necro. I can realistically only solo certain blues and high greens, but the over crowding kinda makes that a problem too. I guess what I’m asking is - will this always be a problem? I didn’t realize druids weren’t as popular as I thought for group content lol.

Before I get too far behind the masses, should I consider refilling ? I was originally going to play necro, mage or chanter ( things I did on live ), but wanted to try something different. Is it going to get better? Atleast once I’m 14 will I be able to take down anything other than really weak low xp mobs?

Congrats on level 9! And as a shadowknight lemme tell you ive already been turned away from 3 groups just for my hybrid penalty so I feel you. But it wont always suck, people are slowly starting to separate from eachother so you will still find groups, and you are one of the best naked soloing classes there are. Also don't be worried about falling behind the masses because there are so many of us there will be leveling groups for quite some time.

Kendir, what's going on! It's Bayruk :)

Congrats OP on 9. I'm a DE rogue and man, level 7 is reallllly dragging. Almost 8 though. I want that backstab, baby!

Best way to get in a group is to start a group, from my personal experience. Once you got 2 other members, things usually fall into place.

At level 9, damage shield and buff yourself, pull with Flame Lick then Treeform. Melee and cast Ignite a few times. Leave Treeform up (learn to tell which way you are facing) and mediate after. This will help you solo harder mobs.

Once you get charm animals, head to EK and kill dogs and hang out with people youll have so much fun!

Use fear animals and go to town on them out there too!

Also, does anyone know if dots do full damage when a mob is chasing you? if that is so, then sow yourself at 12 and just run/med/kite your way to success!

I've never heard of using treeform for anything. What does it do after you dot a mob and cast it?

Some regen. https://wiki.project1999.com/Treeform

Chasing mobs are moving and do not take full dot damage.

Pro tips from Waldo.

Druids were shunned in groups on Blue and will be on Green. During classic it wont be that bad, 50-60 in Kunark....I hope you like soloing

I feel like this server is bringing out how people would ACTUALLY play eq, with today's knowledge and 1999's ruleset. Just more cutthroat overall, not really willing to help others too much unless it benefits themselves. When you have so many people packed into one area and force them to compete for mobs while incentivizing people to race, it brings out a different side of them. Honestly, 2014/2015 pre velious blue felt a lot more fun to play than green so far.

Green will normalize. People are trying to win right now. Not just play.

Only losers on eq. When people learn.

^^^ this

With treeform you will be able to reduce downtime significantly - ideally you'll want to pull to the same spot all the time, so you dont have to break treeform due to the root part.

Also DS - it is superior mana to damage ratio at this level.

Is treeform really that good? I have been meleein at level 10-11 high blue cons or even white cons with damage shield up and it's not bad, but sometimes the white grizzlies do hurt. I skipped tree form cuz I was poor, now I have some plat from bandits... gonna have to go pick that spell up, you've got be intrigued.

In BB, I took to just grouping up with people to have someone to chat with while we grind. Also, even though the exp was lower of course, we could kill more mobs.

Made it to level 5 last night finally, in Gfay found a few spawns out in the wilderness of skellys, bats, wasps, pawns, etc.

Think I'm gonna head over to Antonica and hit up EC / Deserts now.

I haven't had any trouble getting groups as a druid. My experience is that people are more than happy to fill out a full group even if it's sub-optimal for exp. Maybe it'll change later on, but aside from a small handful of ass-hats, I have loved the Green community so far. Considering how much competition there is for mobs in the Qeynos area, that's no small accomplishment..

this is how every TLP launch is as well, you wait a week to make your toon if you cant deal with it

Never played blue. Would you mind to share some thoughts on classes that aren’t going to be shunned from groups ?

holy trinity - best healer CLERIC, best tank PALADIN, best dps ENCHANTER

Tecmos Deception

Cleric, enchanter, shaman are the ultimate group classes. And not just because they're great in groups, but also because they can kill stuff while waiting on groups (if they even want a group at all! Even clerics are pretty solid solo during classic era, with undead nukes hard to resist and hitting about as efficiently as wizard nukes).

Pure melee like rogues and warriors are good too, but they're totally reliant on groups for exp so if you DON'T find one, you're just sitting there doing nothing.

Mage and necro are also in high demand right now because pet classes bring so much sustained damage to a group.

Hybrid tanks are hit and miss. They've better at keeping aggro on themselves than warriors are, but some groups get scared off by exp penalties, and at really low levels they aren't likely to take hits better than anyone else anyway since they don't have better defensive skills or armor yet.

be sure and get harmony and advertiser yourself as being able to split camps. Would have loved to have a druid last night at bandits. It only works outdoors, but it is AoE and if i remember right it doesn't get resisted like enc/cleric pacify.

Maybe I'm just a vindictive/passive-aggressive ass, but anyone who refused me a group because of my race/class would end up on the "do not help ever" (also known as ignore) list.

They would not get buffed, sold to, bought from, or grouped with by any of my toons. Also on this list are kill stealers, camp jumpers, and other ne'er-do-wells.

I don't get into arguments, shouting matches, or smear campaigns, just /ignore and move on. Actions have consequences. It might not be a significant consequence (it's easy to find a buff, group or a port) but whatever...

You are. Boycotting someone because they don't want to do what you want them to does indeed make you an ass.

Don't get into an ass war with a Texan Beowulf. It sounds like he is pretty good at it. There can be only one winner

TxB you're welcome to my groups anytime.

It's not so much a matter of them "doing what I want them to do," so much as "if you won't help me, why should I help you?" And like I said, I don't make a production of it in game, just /ignore and move on.

nobody wants to group with anything other than a mage or a necro.

There is a glut of healers and buffers right now and the DPS you bring right now is well...lacking. Your druid will always have grouping issues.

Atleast once I’m 14 will I be able to take down anything other than really weak low xp mobs?

Druids are very powerful soloers and get fast exp IF there are mobs. Your specialty is processing multiple mobs at once, so even though low exp, it will add up.

“Ew ur exp penalty”
“Get a pet to eat the rat fist FOR me”

Never said any of these things in 1999, fwiw.

Druids are great in groups in classic. Heals, nukes, DoTs, thorns, harmony, SoW, charm etc. make them super versatile. They will fall behind as you approach 50, but until then I wouldn't anticipate too much anti-druid sentiment. Maybe I over-estimate people though.

Sure they can. All the way to 50. Like I said, their undead nukes are about as efficient as wizard nukes. Their regular nukes aren't anything special but they work just fine if you don't mind med breaks. They're especially nice to fight against casters with, since your nukes tend to interrupt, and you have stuns, and you have hp buffs and resist buffs. They can lull to break camps. Etc.

Not as good as a nice duo/trio or even some full groups, but it's a good way to casually level while doing other stuff during med breaks.

This is the part that is terrifying me right now with regards to druid.

If you enjoy the class, I’d say stick it out! especially when you get self ports and can easily cherry pick your leveling spots. I’m thinking some of of this madness should level out a bit later.. hopefully haha
