The sheer lack of playtime I have had and will have due to work etc makes me quite depressed. I really wish I could be part of the rush but I have come to the realization that I will never be able to.

Anyone else dealing with this? How do you cope

Well, it's just a game. And if you have things like a family, good job, life etc, those are far better obviously. Be grateful for them.

It'll still be busy everywhere next week and next month, even if there aren't 250 level 1-5s in gfay.

Remember EQ is a long haul marathon, not a 100yd dash. Play when you can and enjoy when you can. Plenty of time to catch up

Launch make ppl think in a racing mentality. And sure there is stuff some ppl want to race for but every one can play EQ and enjoy EQ how they choose

I cope by realizing that killing 4-bit sewer rats for 600 hours won't benefit my life

Very true, I try to remind myself of that and I typically play that way. I think the main issue is my want for a guise and knowing that there is a deadline.

This would be true if the rules applied on green. But KS is the main rules with those racer... they come in group, and use the fast respawn (something design because too much people) for pl themselve (ks everyone that try to keep a creep from an entire zone (like the pit in everfrost). So being 3k+ on green is just good for them. And those stupid people like me who try to not hit a mob that someone else tagged are just victim.. i dont want to be victim, and i dont want to be an ass.. there is no other way to play on green. Sadly

Of course not: everyone knows the path to Nirvana is paved with 600 hours of gnoll killing!

Depends on your location, maybe. I haven't had trouble finding quiet parts of the zones I've been in. I was killing stuff for 20 minutes only a couple minutes from Grobb when I logged in before I saw a single other player.

Anyway. If you're gonna exaggerate too much, then I'm gonna assume you need to be educated.

Right now, a lot of people are frustrated because newbie zones are full. If you can't play much this week, don't fret...it's probably not the easiest time to play! XD

The rush seems like it will be going for at least a week , maybe 2. Qeynos Hills had 100+ in it both nights, people are coming in waves.

I think a minority of casual players are waiting.

OP the first few levels go by super fast regardless if it's the first weekend or not, so you have plenty of time.

Yeah there will probably be some guild killing XYZ first, but as long as you are having fun when you are playing then you shouldn't feel bad.

The first race to 50 is mostly irrelevant. There are 13 months of vanilla left to go. Even the most casual people in the world made 50 by Kunark. You'll be ok.

If you can’t make time for shit you love because of work it sounds like you need to find a way to strike a better work/life balance. No job is so important that you can’t take a vacation day for some important hobby or dedicate one afternoon a week to play your favorite game.

Now... if family is involved then try your best to not be depressed, having a partner and some kids is the dopest shit a person can do. Savor it and come back for Green V3 in ten years.

The only thing I think that I love about the very beginning vs weeks from now is that the greatest items you'll see being linked are like a bronze breastplate or a +2 strength random named drop.

That and like, the halloween night feel of the first few days where everyone is basically just out trick or treating and has the strength of basically an irl 8 or 10 year old kid, but instead of irl halloween all the kids are being attacked and beaten to a pulp and so they are all banding together to try to even the score and they fail miserably and you watch people crumple into death poses all the time randomly.

Aside from those two things you arent missing much.

A lot of them will go back after they hit level 5 and their exp bar stops going up. Don't worry. Blue is not dead.

Finally got going and I am now lvl 3 on my ranger! Going to take it slow and steady. Even if you takes me 3 months to get to lvl 35, at least I will still have a few months to try for that guise.

No.

EQ is not a new game, this has all been done before.

In contrast the mad rush for new games are subdued, with the patient gamer second market people wait years before playing a game and get it for $5. Industry shot itself in the foot with the help of Gabe.

(Note: This is not a rant against steam and a promotion of any other other digital download store fronts.)

Desperate times call for desperate measures. After much trial and error I'm able to solo wisps at lvl 8. They haven't been heavily camped, so it's going real nice.

I just wanted to share with someone. Feeling accomplished after much frustration. Already halfway through lvl 9! Bummer stone quest isn't in yet, but they still vendor well.

Trust me. everyone has 3 years to try green.
Every year is a new expansion aka a bump in population.
Just don't miss the kunark or velious launch. :)

I figured this out years ago. The key is to realize RL is always more important.

People who know how a story ends enjoy the story more.

Obviously I do not have the same amount of free time I did when I was 11 and homeschooled. However, partly because I’m an adult and “better” at games but mostly because of the amount of knowledge we have about the game, it doesn’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. We know the zones, the mobs, the raids, the timeline, the expansions. I know I won’t be a first for anything, or in some top guild. I’ll die a lot and it’ll be slow. I won’t keep up with content. I’ll be a mediocre wizard. But because I know all this, I’m enjoying the story we’re all in and my part in it.

It was so crowded this weekend the only thing you missed was stress and frustration. I found it much better to play off hours. I played all Sunday night and found that from 7-10 pm was brutal, 10-1 am was marginally better and 1-3 am was awesome XP grinding time as there was no more waiting for mobs to pop.

RL obligations are more important then a game. If I die with a thousand EQ regrets but none in real life then I can die a happy man. Even if I don't get a 96% rez!
