And I still haven't chosen a definitive starting class! I feel like I have a case of pre-emptive altoholism over here....

Druid we will need porters
Porting is pretty overrated I vanilla. No reason to go to odus, no reason to go to faydwer after the mid levels. If you were in EC it would be almost as quick to just run to guk than port to feerrot and run. leaving, what? lavastorm? sol a and b both pretty close to commons too. Noobs who could use the ports) won't have much cash to buy them.

See here's my problem:
I tend to be one of them "snowflake" players, who always wants to play an under-represented class. This generally boils down to playing a Tank Class, Rogue, Wizard or Ranger in EQ. On the flipside I've always wanted a high level Druid, Chanter, Shammy or Necro!
I reckon this'll be my final time running through a "fresh" Classic EQ server so basically I just gotta decide between one of those four classes!

And you just sent 40% of the druids into a panic as they're now second-guessing their class choice hours before we go live.

DONT PANIC!
I played Kite on blue in march 2010, pretty early in blues life, and it was an amazingly fun time in classic, and then when kunark hits, you are easily one of the first 60s if you want.

1. Tanks, Rangers, not under-represented according to the class poll. Remove them from your choices.
2. Do you prefer to melee or cast? Remove Rogue or become a Rogue.
3. Do you prefer to Heal/Buff or do Damage? Remove Healers, or DPS.
Personally, I say play a Wizard. You can solo, you can raid, you can be unique...but maybe you got an another answer from trying my quiz.
I always spam this but there is also Loraen's Class Selection Guide.

Many players are going to get a couple of guys to like 20, figure out what class they want to play and then take that all the way. You don't have to make a definitive choice on day one.

This. Sadly one of mine is a Paladin, so it might take a bit longer.

It can be smart to have at least 2 characters. Perhaps one a tank or other melee, the other a dru/enc/shm/nec. Then you have a group class and a solo/farm class; you can farm items or plat to fund your melee class; and you can have them at different level ranges or zones to take advantage of the grouping opportunities that arise.
As for me, however, I tend to go really hard on one character. That is how you get to a high level. Sometimes I share access to characters with my closest friends.

Ive always wanted to play a bard for selos, but I have also never played a necro...torn between the two, leaning to necro for soloing.
