Did anyone manage to get a manastone or guise during the short beta period?

A ton of people did, it wasn't a crowded server at all. Plus the biggest reason they're in such rabid demand is that they go away from the game but you get to keep them. Beta is the opposite, they don't go away and you don't get to keep them.
