View Full Version : Play 18/24 for first week: Any recordman?

I'm thinking of playing from 18 to 20 hours a day from 26 (about midnight) until 3 November to see where I can get. Is there anyone who wants to do the same who wants to join in a duo / trio? I will be Druid.
More generally, how many people think they are intensely playing a first period?

Please seek balance in your life and do not risk your health by trying to spend a week only sleeping 4 hours a night over the release of another emulated server for a 20 year old game.

Hate to tell another person how to live, but hard to disagree with this.

1-4 for me, not because I want to purposely take it slow, but rather that's all the time I have.
Some days will be more; some will be not at all.
On the plus side, being lower level means possible free SoW, buffs, etc. ;) Maybe even a free giant snake fang for the Rogue, lol. Woot woot.

Sorry Cezar but I have a hard time understanding why I should rush to level 50 specially in classic and then wait months for some planes to open. Only thing that I could understand is monopolizing some camp to give loot rights for platinum but i'm not greedy enough for that.

I just burnt an entire week's vacation for the Classic WoW launch and I only played it for about three weeks, I am not doing that again! That being said, I will only have about 6 hours to play during the week and maybe 4-8 hours during Saturday or Sunday, depending on my wife's schedule.
- Poop in bags. I've already been saving my plastic grocery store bags for several weeks and have a proper toilet seat mounted to a 5 gallon bucket. I'm also lucky in that my garbage pick up bin is right below my bedroom window. It's still a solid 12 feet away from my desk, but I'm thinking I can just rush to the window between spawns and throw my poop bags directly into my can for the garbage collection on Mondays.
- I just "broke up" with my last RL friend. Known the guy for twenty years but if I didn't let him go, I know he'd just be communicating with me and trying to hang out and stuff while I'm playing. Also no girlfriend, because I'm red pilled to the max and don't want to lower my standards.
- Been stocking up on tuna fish pouches and boxes of ritz crackers for those late camp munchie attacks. I'm also thinking about moving my refrigerator into my bedroom and stocking it with 100% ready-to-eat food items that way I never have to cook or do dishes.
- I'm also retraining my body to become comfortable with a polyphasic sleep cycle. That basically means I'll take like one 2 hour nap per day, and offset that with short micro naps of like 20-35 minutes at a time, depending on what I'm camping. I've also secured a small supply of caffeine pills to help me when I absolutely can't sleep at all. And I mean real caffeine pills, manufactured by the Soviet Union specifically for long-term storage in case of protracted warfare. Sweet deal out of Ukraine, meant to hit you like a bolt of lightning.
- Main goals are to create the top raiding/farming guild on Green and maintain complete dominance of the raid scene for the entire classic timeline. Think TMO and Aftermath, but more hostile and edgy and driven by the will to conquer.

Because you will have your wife and kids pulling the other 21 hours a day leveling?

8/24 is have a life?
I think that means the bare minimum: I have a job.

I plan on trying not too spend too much of my extra free-time, but instead playing a good solo class and just killing spawns while I do my work from home life style.

I took off work for 2 weeks during classic WoW launch and nolife'd my way to server first 60 mage (though it's the RP server so not impressive), and was even duoing with the guild MT until lvl 50 (lvling a war with crap weapons is rough). We synced our schedules and duo'd for about 17 hours a day.
I'm considering taking 1 week off for this launch, probably playing way too much like I did for the classic WoW launch, but I want to try enjoying myself more this time. I can't afford to fall in with the poopsock/batphone crowd, bad for my health and sanity. I want to group to 50 with a traditional classic group build (melee and all), and let the good times roll.

you guys are so crazy lol.
playing 8h a day is having a life?
playing 2h a day is probably the line for "unhealthy addiction" ^^;
Unless you meant you have a life inside the server, then yes, i guess it starts at 8/24.
honestly even 1h/day steady is probably above what most casual scums like me can give to Green launch. I might be a little bit more immersed than that at launch and for a couple of weeks, cause new server hype yaddi yadda, my wife understands my weird addiction to the "ugly old game with dragons and elf chicks". But yeah, it's gonna be 5-10h/week top.
I have a wife, kids, some friends and a 40h/week job.
I think most players do as well.
Probably not most ForumQuesters tho.
May the force be with you peeps.
Let's not taint Green's launch with one of you bastard dying on us cause 21h/day i want server firsts everywhere madness.

This didn't come at a great time for me. But the timing is going to prevent me from making a bad impression on my kids who are now old enough to make their own opinions.
Going way more casual than I'd prefer. However, I did talk my kids into giving it a try, so maybe I will make up for lost time via their labor.

Sleeping 4 to 6 hours a day for multiple days doesn't seem like a break from work.

I agree. I did this once when my Druid reached 55 just at the start of a holiday weekend with a 25% XP bonus. I wanted 60 so bad that I played 4 am to midnight Friday, Saturday, Sunday and then maybe a 10 hour run on Monday (all in permafrost holding the upper bear pit camp). I was exhausted and it sure felt more like work then fun when you factored in all the cramping from that many hours in an office chair.
But I hit 60!

Yeah and a 9-5 job at that :D.
If I get to put 1-2 hours in every other day that would be a lot already.

This might sound harsh, but I also agree with this statement. Sleep deprivation + lack of exercise / sunlight + (I am assuming) a poor diet could very well send you into a deep depression.

let's be fair to the guy, we probably would all enjoy some of this madness for a tiny while.. but yeah, i think you can aim for 8h sleep and 2h break per day for going out to the grocery store, speak to real people, come back home take a shower and cook something. then the other 14h you can play EQ i guess. but 20h/day just doesn't sound fun at all :( take care.
(also, i am not your father and do whatthefuckever you want. thank you.)

People in Korea have literally died doing this. They found a guy dead in a cyber cafe from exhaustion. Weirdly because he was so often seen in there and was known to nap there rather than go home they ignored the body for a fair bit :|
ADDITIONAL: Im jealous you CAN do this though :)

I plan to play probably 3-4 hours on Sunday nights and maybe 2 hours on Thursday mornings. So, all in, 5-6 hours a week. If I maintain at that rate, I fully expect to never get a guise or a manastone because they'll get removed before I reach level 30.

DAMN, this fast log out ate my post again. GRMPF
i wanted to say:
Much playing has to wait just after 30. oktober.
The first weekend of green i have to clean up a garage i have with some friends for our Vespas.
We got a dismissal and that weekend we taking everything out with a truck.
So bad luck for me.
But from the wednesday after it i have 4 days off.
So i will try to live like i did 18 years ago on Vallon Zek.
Cellar and gaming and sleeping (not that way i did in the old days, but enough to get the good-old-days-feeling)
I so can't await to start.
I am a bit afraid everybody level away and there will be not groups after a few days but probably there will be enough player that will not grind through.

I will probably be playing a ton the weekend it launches. Likely 14-16 hours a day on saturday and sunday. During the week I will probably get 4-6 hours in after work. Will probably slow down after that.

What an accomplishment it will be to get to 50 a few days before everyone else who has already done it 25 times!

But imagine all of the sweet gear you will be able to get, to replace with something better that will take more of a grind that you will forever (or until you replace that with something better from the next raid).
