Word of Green99 is really starting to spread! As noted here in another thread, even some high-traffic gaming websites are writing articles on the server's impending launch!

Question is this: If we see a launch population of 4,000+ players is one server REALLY gonna be sufficient? Any idea how much more in donations we'd need to cover a dual-server launch?

"Classic" would be considered around 2500-3000 players TOPS and I can see G99 literally doubling those numbers both at initial launch as well as the launch of Kunark/Velious!

I know it's a moot point here anyway, but on classic live the ratio was what, 1:8? for pvp to non pvp servers? It's more likely we'd need several more green servers before a new pvp server.

Man I remember logging into one of those team pvp servers the day it launched. My troll spawned in a sea of trolls and I was unable to move my character. I'll just laugh* if that happens on green and log back in at 2am.

We will see a pvp server probably 2-3 years after green launch. Why crunch 4k+ players into one server, while the pvp server has 50 people just scaring everyone away. I mean, look at the current pvp server. Never had more then 150-160 people at prime time.

Also a bunch of rejects from the pvp server just launched a server. That should keep them away.

Blue has had over 2k players at various times over the past year. I expect Green to break 4k daily at minimum.

U guys scared any and all prospective new players off of Red.

Theres a literal BIS level-30 Iksar Monks running around Mistmoore w an Abashis Rod and 200 unbuffed MR corpse camping players wearing cloth and leather.

I played Tallon Zek on live and I can confidently say that EQ PVP is 90% gear 5% skill and 5% luck.

I've seen Kotaku and Massively both covering the announcement, so hopefully they cover the release date too.

I've told a few folks I know that stream, hopefully there will also be some of the bigger streamers that end up trying it out.

Ive had the same experience in mistmoore, it was appalling. Ive went over your percentages as well and I can concur they're also correct.

It's all speculation until launch day actually gets here. For myself, I will wait and see what the population is over the first few weeks. If the server is so over-crowded that groups are hard to get into and when you do get into group the pulls are slow because the puller can't find any mobs then I will likely just blow off green and stick with Blue.

But I'm hoping there will be a good balance of players on both green and blue so people can get groups and XP on either server without any major issues.
