<Riot> and <Aftermath> are Horrible Guild Names

After taking a 5+ year break I come back to these 2 guilds being top dogs. The question is, who is responsible for coming up with these 2 names? I would perma ban them from the server. They don't belong here.

Riot is just pure laziness...sounds like you had a bunch of random guys just shout out random words and you picked one. Also, what are your rioting? The other neckbeards on the server for phat loot?

Aftermath sounds way too nerdy. The word math should never be used in a guild name, under any conditions. One word guild names should be banned as well. They just sounds so millennial (makes it feel that people don't have the time to think of something creative so they get lazy and pick a single random word).

At least put the word "the" in front of them. Doing this at least makes the name sound more epic (ie. "The Aftermath"). The Riot still sounds kindergarteny. Notice I just made that word up...at least it's something unique, unlike both of your names.

Guild names should be at minimum 2 words, preferably 3. TMO was an awesome name for example (they were the top dogs when I last played).

I recommend you guys /petition and change your guild's name to something more awesome and respectable. Freakin' Riot and Aftermath. Lame.

The voting process for <Aftermath> was pretty gay and most of the poll names were terrible. Aftermath was actually one of the better options somehow. When you are looking over 75 names they all start to look corny TBH

Is it doomed to fail? 70 guys weaponshielding provide 21 minutes of 'tanking'. At 50 dps per ranger and accounting for deaths that works out as 21*60*50*35, approximately 2 million damage assuming perfect tank switches, each ranger gets 1 rounded when disc goes down and no aoe deaths (self healing and stinging worts?).

If you can triple that figure for raid attendance you could create a constant rotation of weapon shield!

When Forsaken and Asgard were about to merge in 1-2 months following the sleeper being woken up, both guilds held internal polls with the same list of options. There were tons of names and there weren't many good options actually. Aftermath won the poll in both guilds so that was the name. There was never really any reasoning behind Aftermath being one of the options, but I'm sure many of us felt the sleeper being woken did make it kind of a fitting name. I was always a proponent for 2+ word names so for sure agree with OP. Riot sucks too.

Awakened was definitely a play on the fact that that the Awakened member base (Rampage+Taken merge) were responsible for the sleeper awakening which had happened a few months prior, however the reality is that all of Rampage and only a small group of keyed Taken members woke the sleeper up. Most of Rampage didn't join Awakened (either retired, went casual, or joined Rustle) so the argument can be made the the name Awakened is Taken members stealing Rampage's valor. Awakened was like 90%+ Taken when it formed.

It was more a fuck you to your guild than it was stealing valor. You are correct in saying that most of Rampage didn't join Awakened but it was way less lopsided than 90%/10% you are claiming here. Stop spewing shit you don't know about.

Eh, I've seen worse. The first iteration of the uber guild I was in back in the day was something stupid like eternal dragons of norrath or some other abominable D&D nerd word salad. I refused to ever say the whole name and only use the acronym.

Aftermath isn't that bad, especially if the guild was formed out of the carcass(es) another guild(s) following some drama. It's nice to have a name with some actual guild exposition to it. just like we merged with the other bigger guild on our server to become the eventual uber guild and we cut our guild names in half and joined them together. it still wasn't a good name, but at least it meant something.
