You’re a day or two early. Need to wait until Aftermath and AEGIS show up for the repop cycle, you’ll have all the ooc chat you can handle! (WARNING, may be toxic trash in ooc, avoid at all costs)

Light-hearted ooc banter was probably my favorite part of raiding here. It had to be because 95% of the time you aren't raiding. Here's a fun exercise: deconstruct the normal that insidiously became what you've decided encompasses "entertainment" on P99 and just notice how much of the time you're in a chat room instead of a game.
Might as well just post here more and cut out the virtual exercising.

But you can't get (or deny) pixels here to claim superiority over others.

You can if you just say "sorry you didn't get warder loot" all the time.

I used feel like I needed items to maintain my unwarranted sense of superiority, but then I realized the arrogance that mattered was inside me all along.

In a way that is what it is. EQ came from MUDs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD). Hell, part of the wow factor charm EQ had was that it was like a chat room in game. Talking to other people while playing a game was still a fairly new thing, especially those of us who came from consoles before it and the only people we talked with were those in our living room.
The chat room room aspect faded with many games after, you don't have much reason to and it was seen as better for the player if they didn't have to interact with anyone.
"Other people are griefing me!"

I still look for a main chat box in new game screenshots. Learned to type quick in EQ dungeons when shit hit the fan.

Not as called out as Ripqozko should feel in this thread.

@honeybee
John Smedley, Brad McQuaid, Steve Clover and Bill Trost, who jointly are credited with creating the world of EverQuest,
have repeatedly pointed to their shared experiences playing MUDs such as Sojourn andTorilMUD as the inspiration for the game.
Group up with other players to take down the most nefarious fiends in the Forgotten Realms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgotten_Realms).
Chat room + Dungeons & Dragons + 3D graphical interface = Everquest
