Auto-split Rage

So this necro asks me to come duo bandits with him in lake rathe. I run there from Oasis, everything's good. I always have my split on out of courtesy and start looting, alternating the sashes.
I feel like something's off cause he's dead silent the whole time and seems pissed off about something, out of nowhere he gives me this wall of text about ninja looting the money and then /q'd.

I have never heard of this in my entire everquest play time. Am I missing something here?

No idea.. I just did /split and went on. Never had any problems like this before. I figured it just split the difference 50/50?

Ah I assumed you had /autosplit on, not just splitting. I'd say next time just let them know up front what you're doing so that there aren't any misconceptions about your looting.

Does auto-split not just split the loot equally? I don't understand why this would even be an issue.

I've dealt with monks who don't want it on because of weight but never because of the loot not being equally distributed.

/autosplit doesn't split equally, the looter always gets the bigger portion. For instance in a 2 man group say the mob drops 3plat 0g 0s 0c, it has been a long time but I believe how it works is that the looter will get 2p and the other group member will get 1p, the game won't break it down into 1p 5g each.

I dont think it works at all, but even if it does, nobody wants your dirty coppers so they can be encumbered every 5 minutes. Even in low level zones people generally ffa corpses at their camp. as long as nobody is greedy its not worth fussing about.

Well the idea was to loot the corpses so he wouldn’t have to but I guess it didn’t work out that way lol.

Oh well. Pretty much everyone you meet 1-30 is intolerable and half of the people are after that. Then you join AM and it’s back to everyone.

Imo split should always be off, all it does is make junk currency and adds extra weight needlessly.

Just share turns looting or manually split every so often is better / less annoying

Nothing worth rage quitting or exploding on anyone for thou... A simple "hey split makes a bunch of junk currency that weighs me down could you please turn it off" would have been sufficient

Yeah no, his rage is not justified. I don't like auto-split, which is why I use the keyboard God gave me to ask my group members to turn it off when someone has it on. That dude's got issues.

Auto split doesnt make change so if its 1 pp 1 gold drops looter gets 1pp and sorry duo loser gets 1gp.

The fair way is for someone to loot all the coins then do an even divide at the end

Does it really? I never paid attention to it, but then again I haven't used autosplit since 2000.

6 man group. 5 pp and 11 gold drop.

You get 5pp 5 gold. They get 1 gold. Tough breaks kids.

I view it as incentive to keep camp clean.

When you get heavy don't forget to /split 0 0 216 216, /split 0 0 36 36, /split 0 0 6 6 while combat spam means no one is looking.

A perfectly healthy normal human being would simply ask you to turn off auto split, or stand up from medding to loot a few bodies himself.. This dude gets put on my shit list, OP- You all good in my book man. Homey seems like he needed to step away from the computer for a break anyways. That guy's perfectly unhealthy.

Yeah OP don't sweat it -- hell, when I was killing bandits at level 15 or whatever, I didn't even know autosplit was a thing. I also thought that bandit sashes were a waste of a bag slot (since they didn't sell to vendors). Hah! It's not like you two are lvl 50 or something, guy easily just could've typed a short message before reaching this (odd) boiling point

Hahahah. I usually prefer the velious transparent UI but this was a fresh install and I got lazy, I think this stock UI has grown on me though.

I myself didn't know how autosplit worked (I have a completely different set of memories on live where autosplit was giving me silver and copper on gold loots, and silver and copper on plat loots), but I've come into MANY grouping scenarios where the leader (usually) or one single guy looting every single corpse until someone complained and he went "Oops! Thought auto loot was on, sorry guys!".

Small critique of a clear asshole, but this guy's use of the phrase "ninja looting" is driving me up a wall. You can't ninja-loot corpses with split on. By definition ninja-looting is stealthy and intended to be a secret. At worst you were over-looting, which he could have just mentioned calmly. Nothing ninja about what you were doing.
