Setting: The Warrens. Monday evening the First of July. About half a dozen people ranging in level from 6-18 are peacefully beating down kobolds for exp.

Enter Bronsun <Dawn Believers>:

Here's where he acknowledges it's a dumb thing to steal an entire zone's mobs from newbies. Wait, no it's not. It's the opposite. Here's where he literally runs through every single mob in the zone, blatantly pulling from anyone's camp without care.

At this point there are no mobs to kill, all camps have been stolen by Bronsun. So people start gathering at the zone in and confronting the crew of Dawn Believers.

So Bronsun finally apologizes and goes on his merry way. Wait, no, it's the opposite again:

I get it's a newbie zone. I get that it repops quickly. But I don't think any of those are reasons why someone can break server rules, steal mobs, disrupt a zone.

Also I felt RnF needed something that wasn't about raiding or sebilis, so here's reporting from the newbie front.

Seems some people who hit 50 believe they are entitled to shit on lower players. Absolutely petition. Zone disruption is a bannable offense. You don't need logs. They will pull up internal server logs. Just because you warn people ahead of time that they are going to break the server rules, does not excuse it.

This is pretty typical for The Warrens.

Don't camp check, don't check /who. Just grab everything, kill it all and when someone complains you killed their cycle of mobs with a 20 minute respawn timer just throw out a 'whoops, didn't see you there'.

I did factioning in warrens a while ago, and simply took the king room when it was free, and just killed everything in there. Didn't roam, didn't pull anything from where other players were, simple.

Ok, maybe took me a little longer, than pulling whole zone. But I'd rather do that than disrupt other players.

It depends on what the newbies want (and how much work you want to do), since apparently some people don't like being PL'd. Your way would work but takes some effort to individually hit each kobold with whatever dumb spell you want, especially if they're mowing through them with thorns.

Instead of tagging each mob, you can buff the newbies and tell them to just bumrush groups of kobolds and you'll keep them healed. You'll get faction hits for healing them, no risk of stealing kills, and it won't require as much targeting. I guess you might run low on mana depending on how often they need heals. Venril Sathir pants would be very useful here, you can buff with the clicky and then just use the clicky to heal them as well.

If you really want to PL them, you can actually pants yourself (lol), pull a boatload of mobs, tell them to do at least 1 damage to each mob once, then thorns yourself. If the mobs don't hit you very often (which is likely), just sit so they land hits. They'll hit for their max damage when you sit, which isnt much on a high level but it will make a dent when you have a zone full of mobs hitting you. Then you just click pants on yourself every so often, which keeps you healed AND keeps aggro on you, without risking a kill steal.

You get to clear the zone quickly, for maximum faction for you and maximum exp/loot for them.

Bronsun seems like a douche. I just finished grinding faction in the warrens on my druid to get a hole key. There is so many mobs in this zone, and the respawn is so damn fast there is no reason to train the whole zone, or pull the whole zone in general.

I stayed away from all other people in the zone, not only that but i always advertised POTG and buffs and helping others get their named kills. And it was actually really fun haha.

TLDR, Bronsun- Dickhead, give this guy a timeout.

The fast way is to use a bard or enc friend to charm the vendor and just buy a key while charmed... if you have sneak you don't even need charm. Granted getting to said venor by yourself might be an adventure.

Its better to just make a brell worshiping halfling (theyre non kos in the hole to 90% of the zone) and make an erudite key alt qnd just leave them there. Or you could always just buy the key without factioning if you're a bard, chanter, or monk. Pretty sure you could use puppet strings too if you really wanted to. Or of course you can just duck and squeeze theough the opening at the top if you're a small race... Point is its not worth it to faction to buy a key :)

Bronsun seems like a real jerkoff. I read and re-read the snippits of info trying to come up with a cool/hip/trendy catch phrase but he didn't give too many great one liners unfortunately. 'Plz don't be dramatic' but the best line he used but thats not even 1/100th the awesomeness of 'book not up'

Your personal experience might actually have some merit if it applied to the OP's situation with what was going on in the zone at the time. Sadly, you failed to read that numerous people were of the appropriate level and getting exp, so... I guess your insight might prove useful in some alternate dimension.

As for Bronsun earning some abuse - no one held a gun up to his head and told him to disrupt a zone that other players were properly using, and no one is currently holding a gun to his head and telling him not to apologize to the OP and recognize that he made a mistake. An honest effort would solve a lot of issues, you know?

OP here. Been offline for a bit, but wanted to make a few clarifying points:

-- It was not during the exp weekend. My opening sentence (and date of posting) says it was July 1. Exp bonus kicked in July 3. I think someone just ran with that idea.

-- I was not the only one mad. I'm not sure I have any more evidence than what I already posted, but the majority of level-appropriate players spoke up in /ooc. And it was certainly more than just myself who confronted the crew at the zone line after the zone had been cleared. There were, to his credit, 1 or 2 newbies in the zone who took up his offer to tag for faction.

-- I sent multiple tells directly to Bronsun explaining that people were exp'ing and not to take mobs. I sent 3 tells total, none of which were replied to. In full transparency, I think the 3rd was kind of a "wow thanks for being a dick" kind of message.

-- There were additional DB members in zone, but I believe (for the most part) they were not fully aware of what was going on. 1 sent me a tell saying he didn't want to be a cause of any drama and immediately gated out. Another DB was not part of the faction crew and came over to yell at his guildies. 1 DB member kinda stayed on Bronsun's side. I left these names out intentionally, it was really just 1 person causing the issue, and I certainly did not intend to tarnish a guild's name over the action of just one. Overall the interactions with DB that evening were very positive.

-- I'm all for giving another chance. But it's hard to tell from that recent screenshotted convo if he even acknowledges how much of a dick he was being. To me it looks like he's actually defending his actions, or entirely thinks he did nothing wrong. I consider not stealing mobs & pulling an entire zone to be basic decency, but maybe that's something that needs to be learned by some people. I just hope it was actually learned and not just something he's going to do again at some point. I guess I'm standing under the structure of his actions like a good mason and I still can't tell how much value they hold.

Your personal experience might actually have some merit if it applied to the OP's situation with what was going on in the zone at the time. Sadly, you failed to read that numerous people were of the appropriate level and getting exp, so... I guess your insight might prove useful in some alternate dimension.


You mean my personal experience of having my area cleared of mobs by people faction farming, by higher levels pulling the entire zone. Asking them not to take my mobs, then being told sorry my bad wont happen again. Being told it's ok they respawn quick, or having the exact same thing happen 20 mins later with a new person. Yes completely different then what happened to the OP.
