Rolls don't have "masters", and both rolls were changed to 10 seconds awhile ago.

That seems super short. What's the reasoning there?

Long story short: A bunch of people wanted to click, some people wanted a scout roll. Apparently the compromise isn't to meet somewhere in the middle...but to set a 5 second roll which really just screws over people who either don't use GINA triggers or aren't staring mindlessly at the screen for the whole variance.

No more variance on A Shady Gobbo now, though, so, why should it be different than Scout roll?

Kelz's exact reasoning: Because it is for a BiS item.

Uh. . . no. . . it is for the opportunity to wait for ANOTHER roll so that you can get a damn ring #2.

I havenīt been into a shady roll for about 2 months ago since I won the last one I need.

Wtf is this cringe about xD? #fail

Lol, I am not mad about anyone excelling at this game. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not particularly good at this game, nor do I have the time/wherewithal to devote to getting good or even having a single BiS item.

That being said, I just think that the whole roll was mishandled from the beginning and the concept of a 5 second or 10 second roll is arbitrarily stupid.

Whatever, at least you get a roll. Go experience the idiocy that is the ring 10 turnin.

People waiting in line for chance to gamble that they get a single item for a quest for a single piece of gear on year 9 of an emulation server for a 32 year old elf sim

I wonder what Brad would think

I hear you man. Ring 10 would be probably the biggest single upgrade I could get (that clicky regen is bonkers) and every time I go to the turnin spot and there's like 12 people standing there, I just log the fuck out. I don't have it in me to stare at the screen for potentially 16 hours just to find out one of the other 12 people there can click their trade window in 400 milliseconds. Nothing fun about it.

Clearly you're trying to mock Rezzie, but you have to admit that last sentence can't be as sarcastic as the rest.

Do you (does anyone?) honestly believes staring at a wall for 16 hours (either waiting for a raid mob or for a turn-in) is "fun"?

it's really not. I only ever managed a few hours and it sucks because of you try to chit chat or do anything else, you lose and run the risk of making your pals lose too. so, no, staring at a screen ready to act for any extended period of time is not fun.

I guess you're trying to be cute here but the difference is killing mobs is what EQ is all about, and most people do find it fun. No one ever intended autofire clickfests to be part of the game, and they are most certainly not fun.

D for effort though.

Nope, it's boring. I guess that's why close to zero people do it.

Sorry to disappoint anyone who actually thinks Aftermath has 30 people in ToV intensely starting at a wall because "woo, we're raiding!".

People "socking" are typically alt-tabbed out playing another game or watching Netflix, or just chatting in voice or guild (socialising with elf pals in an MMORPG; controverisial, I know).

The small number of people actively tracking tend to do a couple hours, earn some DKP, then get a replacement and something else once the boredom sets in.

You seem to have very strong opinions on this server's end game. Weren't you in <Clue> like nine months ago? You would have loved the chance to share raid loot with another guild back then, amirite?

Almost nobody stares at walls. You present yourself as being all about accuracy, so be accurate. People talk GoT theory, crack jokes, watch shows, catch up on email, change diapers, eat, chat in GC, make memes, and on and on. During peak raid hours, there MIGHT be a half dozen people actually only staring at a wall and doing nothing else, if that.

Loramins idea of raiding is to kill Geonids in WL during and earthquake, and alt tabbing to post another rotation agreement on the forums between spawns. How would he know?

Dude, look at the title of the thread. Raiding is just an ancillary issue here; the main topic is staring at walls while waiting for stuff like Shady/Angry (mainly Angry now that Shady no longer has variance ... thank you staff!)

And yes, many people actually do stare at walls for hours at a time for those. You can do something else on another screen, but if you don't at least half watch the wall you miss your 10 second window to roll.

I know it was a whopping two pages ago, but do try to follow the conversation m'kay? This is where that 16 hours came from; not raids, but the 10th ring roll:

LOL no need to apologize for talking about the thread's topic ... or any other topic for that matter.

I was just defending myself from someone who uses any excuse to attack me over anything, because they disagree with one opinion I have about rotations (and likely because they have some psychological issues they need to work out).

To everyone saying that I am jealous of Kelz: LOL

Why would I be jealous of someone I am not competing against? It's like a guy who benches 135lbs being jealous of a guy who benches 350 or 400 or w/e — there's no comparison to rationally be jealous about as you compete on two entirely separate levels.

The problem with something like Shady or (now) Angry Gobbo is that it gets casuals like me and <whatever-the-proper-term-is> like him competing for the same thing which ordinarily doesn't happen (in the sense that DB would typically never compete for the same mobs that AM or AG regularly go after)

So no, I don't hate Kelz. No I am not jealous, I don't have anything against him personally or how he plays the game. . . as we effectively play entirely different games.

It's just when those worlds collide that a problem occurs.
