View Full Version : The Price of Fun

You decide that your going to check out a popular camp/Fine Steel loot spot that will also grant you XP. So you head over there and find that it just happened to be devoid of anyone with the spawns sitting there. However, I did notice that bodies littered the ground nearby.

Now I don't know who was there last or when they were there. It very well could of only been empty for 6 minutes. I do a CC check and no one answers. You begin to separate the mobs. It was difficult and took a few minutes but you do it and are now ready to begin the cycle. A couple minutes later, someone who had been camping the spawn and went to bank or whatever comes back and demands his camp back...He doesn't get what he wants as I refused and so he begins to argue. Thus begins the Tells, OOC, spamming his anger over the loss of his camp. I was almost ready to give up and move on due to the fact that he was making the game not fun for me. I don't like making people angry but I decided to just stick with it, I felt I was right and did everything I was supposed to to avoid something like this. Eventually he went away but it took awhile for me to forget about the altercation.

This has happened to me several times and I guess I consider myself lucky that he didn't start KSing or plop down right on the mobs spawn point. He was much higher level then me after all. This person was guilded and during the nasty tells I was very very close to doing a who all xxxxxx and sending out tells to his guild mates, taking screen shots of the tells and OOCs. Or maybe even Petitioning him. But all I wanted to really do is have a little fun for the few hours I have to play. Once I resort to doing all this time is spent and fun is gone. The reason why I have just moved on in the past instead of the headache.

Normally I am more than willing to share a spawn but I've noticed most people, mostly higher level people either want it all or forget it. Not alot of patience or interest in sharing. Alot of high level loot and coin campers moving about with little interest in being civil if they do not get what they want.

Seems to me that "/hidecorpse all" makes this a non-issue. :D

glad to see he didnt bitch out and train you and you kept your camp :p use /ignore though, its much easier than arguing with a fool.

You know, I'm going to have to review all these /commands. I keep forgetting they are there. :o

The way I see it:

If you were there long enough to fill all your bags and had to leave to sell/bank then you had a good run. Leave the person that replaced you alone and...

Just walk away

(Yeah, I used it again... what are you going to do about it?)

Another example of when slaying said person resolves the problem better than crying to gms/forums.

What does this even mean? You realize you are on a video game forum where the main topic is... pixels as you so eloquently put it.

That works great if they're much higher level than you, right?

Right, you slay them, they "autokill list" you along with all their friends, gank you later, you gank them back, ad infinitum...

And you spend your life fighting each other instead of doing what you were trying to do.

Problem solved.

What we have here is a case of the Purples. In other words, you have too much blue.

Purple - Blue = Red = Problem Solved

It sucks that there are people like that who can just ruin your play time, and I can completely relate. The same thing has happened to me several times as well. But after time, you just learn to take plenty of screen shots, use your /ignore as hobby suggested, and get some popcorn for when that 'person' makes the mistake of getting a gm involved.

This is a game, and the GMs do a wonderful job making it available to us, it shouldn't be so dramatic!

You escalate it at that point, go straight to guild chat and have your crew bail you out.
