Id like the classes to be balanced as much as possible and keeping as much of the classic feel. Its not secret that Verant and SOE paid very little attention to pvp mechanics. It would be nice to see that certain classes that are typically shitty in pvp because of how they operate arent shunned until a later expansion lets them perform better.

Its a fine line. I think most people want it to be as classic as possible but i think they dont want their decision to be narrowed down before they actaully choose. One can argue that every class can perform well in pvp and that is true to some degree but its known that some classes greatly under perform compared to others and you typically see less of those classes being played.

There needs to be a balance so it's what i voted for, the way vz/tz worked meant that melee would hit 90% of the time, and hit for max damage 95% of the time, there needs to be some work done in that regard, if it were classic, casters would completely dominate early on.

I've voted for some sort of balance, mainly due to the fact that there are ALOT of old world mechanics that can be used in your favour that would produce an instant petition of "hacker" - basically alot of issues in the code from vz/tz would need to be addressed for it to be a somewhat "fair" pvp environment with a bigger player base.

Resists scaling would need to be worked on, while not being classic, it's pretty necessary post classic(or arguably during it).

While I think pvp in EQ(unmodified) is broken to ridiculousness, I think with some changes it could be quite viable as a "balanced" option.

The way it was on VZ/TZ? Don't make me laugh.

PVP in EQ was NOT in mind when gear/spells/skills/discs were released. It was ignored. The more expansions added; the worse pvp got.

It's a hard question, should be easy but in my experience very hard.

Looking from my point of view, 4 years on vz/tz "balancing" is nearly always biased towards the people who complain / know the GM's the best.

So basicly the people who whine the most gets there way, which ends up in less balance then the original game.

Then when you try to fix the unbalance (like when i tried to fix the broken druid epic on vztz) you'll have people lasher trolling you and saying "it's working perfectly fine, bye" (Sorry pal, but you know this happened.)

I don't know, i think original and as little input from the community as possible is the way to go, from my experience listening to any input from the community when it comes to balancing ends up in broken shit.

The devs need to understand the mechanics in and out. They can't be biased by bullshit whining. Which of course, there will be ample amounts of from players who don't know this game's mechanics as well.

You also can't have devs who rage out easily. They're going to be dealing with the shittiest lumps of lowlife trash this game can muster.

If this server is done right you'd be surprised by how much of the P99 community would embrace it. (most of us are actually avid pvpers from various games, and EQlive)

Two of my friends were actually from VZ, and I played on SZ when it was released for quite a while. You guys aren't special. There are pvpers all around.

Actually, I did. Leveled to 50, played around a bit and left when the rampant cheating was made evident to me. (most of the time I didn't notice it because I didn't expect it)

Gronkus is the little brother of a friend of mine from my original EQlive server, the Nameless.(I'll refrain from using names because I know what it's like to have psychotic obsessed stalkers)

I played a little before his "iteration"(2.0?) and subsequent disappearance.

I left, like I said, because the server community was collectively a piece of shit.

But also do you want to see those classes fall to the way side because classic sept 1999 pvp wasnt fine tuned and made classes shitty?

Who will play a mage when their pet wont zone and all their nukes, minus a few magic based ones, are bolts which in classic 1999 would get blocked by houses, hills, zone wall corners or even other people if they stepped infront of it. Also if you lose line of sight on your target your spell will get interupted. Casters did so well in actaull classic because everyone sucked at the game but if the casters actually act like they did back in 1999 they arent going to perform the same.

Some casters might still remain king like sham and necro and if bards and ench can charm mage pets to poof them that will be classic.

Half the fun of a classic PvP server was the alternating OP classes that emerged from major patch to patch.

The only thing I freakin ask for is to not make it classic PvP in light of melee, I loath playing casters because of Live.

Ballancing is fucking stupid. All classes wind up having the same skills/abilities in one form or fashion. If you want to one on one, go play WoW.

Classes not being ballanced forces players to think outside the box and/or group up.

Mass PVP is more fun IMO.
