I had been camping the Nybright Sisters in Lesser Faydark for all of level 15 on my Erudite Paladin. I was now almost level 17. Due to the relatively low strength of my race and my banded armor, I had been making several trips to the wood elf outpost and had gathered sufficient familiarity with this vendor run. Given the close proximity of the outpost, it's surprisingly easy to get lost running between the two. My preferred route is to run along the southern boundary of the zone until the orc tents are visible, then run right past the orc tents to the wood elf outpost. This is the type of minutiae most of us focus on when grinding the same mobs for several levels.
I hadn't had any problems with these orcs before. They had been conning green to me since I'd arrived from the Plains of Karana at 15. Like Icarus soaring through the sky, I veered too close to the nucleus of the camp. My laptop speakers were muted this evening and I didn't realize I was being killed by something big. It was the Orc Chief! Although generically named, he packs quite a punch at lvl 15 and I was already down to 50% health.
I took quick inventory of my situation- I'm 60 or 70 stone overweight and losing life at a rapid rate. I'm grouping with a lvl 11 druid and don't have SOW. There are no guards in the zone. My best bet is the Mistmoore zone line but my agility is so low and I'm running so slowly, there's just no way. I'm dead for sure.
I briefly consider dropping a backpack full of bronze weapons on the ground but there are bronze-thirsty scavengers all over this zone so my natural inclination is not to set valuables on the ground in Lfay. Another reason I didn't drop any backpacks is that I have bronze weapons all strewn about in my inventory and there's no guarantee that I would make weight after dropping a bag. It only takes about 3 or 4 large bronze weapons for me to be encumbered. So partly through greed and partly through desperation, I continue my trip to the vendor.
I start frantically selling to the vendor while getting kicked in the back. I get stunned, leaving me with some free time to look at my health which is now at 5%! The stun subsides and then I "feel a healing touch." I touched myself for 406 hp with my lay hands ability. I continue this pattern of selling and getting stunned a few more times until i make weight. I then strafe run out of the hut, hoping that that I won't see any more red text in my combat text window. I seem to be creating separation between myself and the orc chief.
A group message from Biddlewip the druid comes in and reads, "uh..you ok?"
My chuckling is short lived because now I'm trying to type /shout while firmly pressing down the W and D keys. Due to massive amounts of typos I never get the warning shout into the channel and regrettably train an afk ogre that was standing somewhat near the MM zone line. Not sure if he made it out alive but I did. Last time I had a crazy adventure in Lfay someone told me to take screenshots. So here is a screenshot I took after I was safely in Mistmoore.
