Daldaen this is an EMU... My belief off your idea is that they'll take what they've learned from blue/red and craft a new server that starts in classic. Without those 'fixes over time' you describe. Because it will already have all those fixes.

And in today's world where 'early access' is a common term. I'd say calling P99 a velious beta is completely wrong.

I still like one of the original proposals I heard, which was that the sleeper would reset ___ days after every waking ... which would mean that guilds could keep waking him to make sure he repeated his reign of terror every so often :D

reset the sleeper and put ALL the velious loots on it. MOVE IT ALL to her from all the current raid targets. This will usher in a new era of cucktopia under one-guild-rule. The server will come together once every server reset for an AWAKENING, whereupon every able-bodied raider shall throw theyselfs upon the sleeper for many hours until at last it is dead. loot will be lotto'd and players will spend their time until the next AWAKENING regaining lost levels. It just strikes me as counter to the real draw of P99 to not have the Warders up. The draw of P99 is to get to experience all of the great things from original EQ that have since been removed, nerfed, or dumbed down in the years that followed.

We talk about keeping thins "Classic" but what was decidedly not classic was having a top tier guild with years to accumulate BiS Kunark gear, all with a decade or more of raiding experience, and a full knowledge of all tactics and strategies required to clear out all Velious content just waiting for the starting gun to fire so they could rush to ST.

I am not saying the crew from Ramp didn't work their asses off, they did, but P99 is missing an enormous chunk of end game content that was never intended to be gone so soon.

I wonder, if such a mechanic had existed in Kunark, and the moment you killed Phara Dar the VP dragons never re-spawned again, would P99 have ever survived this long without it?

4 more is still 50% more.

You could maybe remove Sontalak and Klandicar and swap in your desired NToV dragons, but no matter how you calculate it there are no more than 12, and that's being super generous.

Half to 1/3 of something is by any estimation a big chunk.

It was bad game design in original EQ to allow players a way to permanently remove content.

Please don't make it sound like that's a P99 thing or even a P99 raid thing. The twenty people or less who were really responsible were just a group of assholes that could have played anywhere; it's not like they represent P99 or most P99 raiders. Most people on P99 (yes, even those in the raid community) are decent respectful folks.

IIRC EQMac's 1.0 Alpha PoP code just blew up when trying to run the Sleeper script. It didn't work no?

Have a GM event where all the powers of Norrath come together in the shocking aftermath of The Sleeper's awakening; the giants, the dragons, the ring of scale, Mayong and his agents... They understand the danger The Sleeper presents to all.

The first step they make is to punish those that woke him. Make an example of them.

These NPC factions put a bounty on everyone involved in waking the sleeper.

Flag everyone that woke the sleeper PVP as one team. All other characters on the server are the opposing team.

Every time a sleeper-waker is killed they drop an item which can be turned in to different faction npcs for different trivial rewards (vampire blood pots from mistmoore, cazic gate pots from CT lizards, thurg pots from dwarfs etc).

Many funs.
