I had a coworker who I worked with for over 10 years, we became very good friends. For years we would talk "man talk," you know... share our weekend stories and sexcapades with women we had met at the club, at the park, online, etc.
Over the years I usually found myself in relationships whereas my friend had a steady GF but he would cheat and meet other ladies on the side, so his stories were usually more entertaining and he also was more apt to share details whereas I always felt like what I did with my partner deserved more privacy.
After working with him for about 7 years, I found out he was actually gay and all his stories about women were in fact not women but men. My first question to him was why lie to me all of those years, when in fact I never would have judged him or cared that he was gay in the first place? Why create this elaborate lie that revolved around his "girl friend" and all these "girls" he was meeting on weekends in hotels etc.?
I was disappointed in my friend not because he was gay, but because he didn't trust that I would accept him for who he really was. I was confused, and sad that someone like my friend could not just be himself, and in this day and age there are still some men and women who feel that they still have to hide that they are gay.
Will our society ever fully accept others regardless of their sexualities? Will men and women ever be able to fully live their lives as they want without prejudice?

No one really cares about gay/straight anymore. If you want to use another mans orifices to achieve orgasm, go for it. You can't use another man to reproduce though.
born gay doesn't exist
Agree. Its a choice and its a lifestyle thing. Some are more gay than others, but its ultimately a lifestyle that more men tend to get drawn into as they approach older age.

Our entire evolutionary purpose is to propagate our species. The moment homosexuality or transsexualism became some kind of social fixation was a huge misstep.
I agree with almost everything you said, but to play devil's advocate here...
How relevant is the above quoted text today? This taken from a Williams Institute report estimate (which is a few years old, and admittedly only taken in the U.S. rather than a global estimate):
"It is estimated that 3.8 percent of Americans identified as gay/lesbian, bisexual, or transgender: 1.7 percent as lesbian or gay, 1.8 percent as bisexual, and 0.3 percent as transgender."
Even if this number has risen in the last few years since the study / report, this is less than 10% of the U.S. population. With population growth in the country and the world expanding so rapidly to the point of creating a bubble, is it really so detrimental if 10% of the population aren't reproducing? If anything, I view this as a good thing.

I think the nature in which I present my ideas may often come off as quite bigoted/xenophobic/sexist. I have no problem whatsoever with humans doing as they choose to their bodies. Whether that be drugs, sex change, suicide, etc. I care even less when humans choose to fornicate or live romantically with the same sex.
What I most certainly DO care about is when people try to use science as a scapegoat for their own bullshit choices. For someone to declare that they were "born this way" when they were clearly born with either an XY or XX chromosome is an insult to science. To see some man claim he is a woman while his testicles flail about is an insult to science.
Regarding sexuality. From the minute a man's testicles drop and he has his first wet dream, his seed is destined to fertilize an egg. It doesn't matter if this man wastes his seed upon another man's anus. Why should it matter? It doesn't. What DOES matter is if the man claims he was born gay.
One may argue that homosexuality is evolution's way of population control. I disagree. Humans have been using the same sex to achieve orgasm since the beginning of mankind. Those same humans who participated in bisexuality still lived on to reproduce. One could certainly argue the point that all humans are innately bisexual, but the entire concept of sexuality doesn't really matter.
Our entire evolutionary purpose is to propagate our species. The moment homosexuality or transsexualism became some kind of social fixation was a huge misstep.
I see your perspective and appreciate you elaborating on it. I still have some questions though.
Regarding science, I don't feel it's insulting to science when a man says "I was born gay." You have to admit, that even science has not fully solved all the mysteries of this life and outside of it, or at least I should say MAN has not unraveled all the mysteries with science.
For instance, sure, all the reasons you explain as to why it's not possible for a man or woman to say "I was born gay" makes sense if you only take the physical evidence that we as humans so far understand about the male and female bodies.
What we as people do not fully know or understand is what is in the brain regarding thought processes and other even more complicated facets to the body that we know nothing about at all.
You can't say we have fully figured out the human body, and thus it's impossible to say a man or woman cannot be born gay, when in fact we do NOT fully understand everything about the human bodies particularly the brain which ultimately controls our behavior.
How can we say a gay man or woman are not born that way when in fact their brains dictate what instinctual behaviors they have? I mean they were born with their brains structured the way they are, right? I don't understand how you can say that.
Yes, they have working parts, a penis, balls that drop and seed that shoots but this doesn't prove a man is not born gay when there are more facets to human physiology than just the reproductive system. This only proves that physically they were born as a man this has nothing to do with their psychological makeup.
I realize there are some men or women that "choose" to be gay, and the only examples I can think of are porn stars that do "gay for pay" and/or individuals that choose to do so for other reasons but typically this behavior is short lived, spur of the moment, or done for some highly calculated reason.
When my friend told me he was born gay, I did not question it. When he told me that since he could remember he was gay, it was a natural feeling for him even though it was awkward for him because he understood it was not "normal" according to the narrative life presented him with in his household by his family and it wasn't until he was a full adult he was able to accept the fact that he was indeed gay and there was nothing he could do to change that. This is not making a choice to be gay, as a small child he didn't think to himself "I want to be gay!" He never even understood such a thought at that point in his life...
I just think we have barely touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what we understand about the human body, especially the brain. I also view much of how the brain works as a mystery to scientists thus rendering us extremely ignorant on things such as why we have always had homosexuals, bisexuals, transgenders etc. I can't view it as an insult to science when someone says they were born gay, I just can't.

so you are sexually attracted to men or man parts, but because you do not engage in sexual acts with other men, you're not gay? is that the argument? you're still gay (or bisexual) if that's the case.

Nature Vs Nurture.
Since you are so keen in using your friend as an anecdote, might I inquire briefly upon your friend's childhood? Can you remember anything about his parents or family? Social status? Income? Was there anything indicating he may have had a bad relationship with his father, or if he was ever touched by a weird uncle, cousin, or father? Was there anything indicating he was particularly closer to the women in his family than the men?
I think that people overplay the notion that many gay people have existed since the beginning of time, and that gays are something that has been around forever. Yes, people had sexual relations with the same sex, there is no doubt about that. It is very likely that Shakspeare had countless sexual relations with men, but he still reproduced and had children. Many imbeciles today claim Shakespeare was some kind of flamboyantly gay man.
Humans love to feel as if they are a part of something. It makes them feel comfortable inside. It makes them feel loved. I think that initially gay culture started as an act of public degeneracy. It was a way to be "weird" or "stick it to the man" no pun intended. A good example of this would be Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop, David Bowie all having sexual relations with each other. Those men had sex with other men solely for the sake of degeneracy, and sexual lust. It wasn't because those men cared romantically about the men they were reaming.
It's not that I am "so keen" to use my friend as anecdote, it's just really the only connection I have to this topic.
To answer you, he indicated nothing traumatic occurred in his childhood that would turn him gay. He never told me that he always spent time around his mom and aunts turning him gay. he never told me he had been abused by a bad uncle thus turning him gay. By all accounts he grew up in a much more stable household than I did, his parents even remained married unlike mine.
I can't ask him more detailed questions because this friendship was one from literally 20 years ago and I lost touch with him quite some time ago.
Anyway, I don't think we know nearly enough to draw concrete conclusions as to what forms our sexuality and why some people are gay. We definitely don't know all of the secrets of science regarding how the human brain works etc.
TL;DR
If a gay man or gay woman says "I was born this way," I won't think differently because there simply is no such proof indicating this is not true.
It's not an insult to science when we lack the science to prove they indeed were not born that way.
What is in someone's brain has nothing to do with a person's physiological body so having a penis and balls doesn't prove that a gay man wasn't born gay.

They literal execute homosexuals as pagans and sinners in the middle east so I would imagine the 'official' number is 0% gay.
Part of the reason the middle east sees America as evil is because (to an extent) we encourage homosexuality and let our children pick if they want to be boy or girl. This behavior is not tolerated over seas
This is true, but oddly enough it's culturally acceptable that men fuck little boys. They seem to only dislike it it when men fuck men.
It's a very weird region.

its verry dangerous to mix sex up with strange fetishisms & I don't want my beautiful boy growing up in world where everyone is doing that sort of thing. now convince me u would be humping other male hyenas if u were a male hyena.

it is my opinion that one is not born gay. One can be born into a body which has a high chance of being gay. I believe that the deal is sealed during the first several years of the child's life and largely revolves around masculine power dynamics with the men of their family.

This is true, but oddly enough it's culturally acceptable that men fuck little boys. They seem to only dislike it it when men fuck men.
It's a very weird region.
its because the quran literally says that its the greatest pleasure in the world.
i dont really care about islam, but i know enough to know it references "great pleasure" from the anus of **** (can't even really repeat a verse from the quran on this forum lol). And yes, it makes specific reference to sodomy. Most ppl have no idea how much shit is being suppressed about this quaran nonsense.

Where'd you get your degree in biology from MTB? Because someone who cares about science so much must know a whole lot about it right? Or at least about the biology of human reproduction? It couldn't possibly have anything to do with ignorance and homophobia ...
Let's start with the X/Y chromosomes: you have lots of other chromosomes (22 in fact) and they all impact all sorts of different things about your body. While the X/Y genes do determine gender, that does not magically give them a monopoly on all things we consider sexual. Furthermore even those genes are not that simple, and it's not like every baby is born a binary male/female. 1 in 1500 babies born are not clearly one gender or the other (http://www.bbc.com/news/health-14459843).
On top of that, not all of "what you are born with" comes from your genes. You get all plenty of other stuff from your mother too like her microbiome (bacteria). As it turns out science has proven that your birth circumstances do determine your sexuality (http://www.newsweek.com/born-way-why-having-older-brother-makes-men-more-likely-be-gay-745467), as they found that men are statistically more likely to be gay the more older brothers they have. And that's not "how many brothers they lived with", as adopted siblings had no effect: it only mattered how many boys came out of your mom before you did.
Obviously that's not a function of the X/Y chromosomes or even of DNA, but it is definitely a product of birth.

you know, the Y chromosome is actually pretty small and a lot of "male" traits are a result of gene expression on the X chromosome. The only things the Y chromosome is really responsible for are turning genitals inside-out, producing many mini-gnawers & receding hair lines.
HRT demonstrates that MOST of what we consider man/woman from secondary sex traits to behavior, is physiological. yeah xy almost always means one is male (has a Y chromosome and is capable of producing sperm), but in cases of complete androgen insensitivity, people develop as females with normal female genetalia. They are genetically male, but phenotypically female.

no, that's not what i said. we were talking about homosexuality as a choice and function of sex. i was illustrating variations in biology and the importance of physiology independent of genetic sex, which support to the idea that homosexuality is not a choice.

there's nothing wrong with denying that guy's request or denying him entry to a public restroom. the idea that some people may be born with inclinations associated with a sex opposite their own does not mean that everyone who claims such disposition is truthful in their claim or that they should be unreasonably accommodated even if they are.
That guy is a criminal. Whether he is transgender or not is irrelevant. there are a number of reasons why criminals are segregated by sex and they all support keeping him with males. that aside, who gives a fuck what criminals want (particularly violent or abusive ones)? they didn't accommodate their victims desires, why should society accommodate theirs?

Darwin would be pleased to know his corpse evolved to do post Mortum barrel rolls.
Loramin's articles are so far fetched. The first link (though it is falsely referencing gender) even states that as a "disorder".
Second link basically says that if you have older male siblings you are statistically more likely to be gay. Cool.
You clearly didn't read my post. You can have your own beliefs, but don't come waving your painted finger at me preaching a buzzfeed article you arrogant twat. Charles Darwin is turning over in his fucking grave.

I like to read some of Loramin's posts but have trouble sifting through the linked articles he posts sometimes.
Actually I don't like most linked articles people post tbh. Usually the articles are extremely biased and from some extremist site that supports the persons own personal agenda.
I rather read what someone thinks, not what they just read on their favorite extremist website or links to articles from their favorite extremist website.

Wherever there is neofreedomfighter bullshit to be spewed Loramin will find the thread and kindly shit it up. That article was utter horseshit. You should ask Stanford or MIT how they feel about your little theory.
MTB when you say shit you mostly just make it up. Occasionally you say something about science without actually understanding it or providing any sources to back your nonsense up. You still haven't said a single word that disputes any of the claims I raised (which are not my claims, but the claims of the people doing the research).
I've actually taken classes at Stanford; have you? I've worked with PhDs in Biology and discussed topics like this on our way to get coffee in the morning; have you? I read articles about the latest research and scientific breakthroughs on a daily basis (and then I remember and reference them later) so that my opinions are informed by the best information available; do you?
It's fine that not everyone wants to read the references I provide, because they're really not essential. What is essential is that I don't just spew hatred because it was taught to me, I base my well-informed opinions on logic and reason, tempered with a healthy dose of empathy.

Fuck that interviewer! I mean, he had it right when he said she was doing the right thing in general (as an interviewer trying to dig deep in to her subject) but she clearly went in without any understanding of what the guy was about and had only read the worst accusations against him. An intelligent and empathic interviewer who wasn't just trying to win points in an argument could have done a million times better.
