A few years ago I worked summers as a lock keeper on the River Trent. Nice gig; get to spend as much time as I like outdoors, but decent indoor welfare facilities if I need them. Vast majority of punters are happy holidayers or a few professionals.

End of season could kick back and watch videos, read books or whatever (cough strictly on lunch breaks) as there was little traffic and I'd have completed all maintainance work while the weather was still kind.

Lots of equipment and cargos going up and down the River worth a decent amount, and it was up to me to negotiate their passage.

Worked evenings and winters in a leisure centre bar to keep me social. Nice place to work a bar as nobody is there to get shitfaced, again nice friendly job and work environment.

With 10, the user doesn't have any true control over most crucial features of the operating system. Disabling Cortana on the anniversary version is a fucking nightmare. There are force updates that a user can't opt out of. Windows 10 sends telemetry data and ignores the hosts files, the DNS protocol and some basic firewall rules. Also, twice per year you may reinstall software deemed not required by Microsoft. And finally, older games and applications either do not work or have severe problems (P99 falls into this category, look at all the posts in the P99 Forums where people inquire/bitch about it).

It'd be asinine to have a 35 year-old military vet in a college dorm room, so instead my wife and I brought him up to Maryland to go to school. I figured it was the best case scenario to get him to graduate with his degree and not be a Van Wilder.

But this semester he's been using my PC since he wasn't able to get Wamp or Xampp installed on his PC for his PHP course. Didn't think about the possibility of him using my PC to log into forums. With 10, the user doesn't have any true control over most crucial features of the operating system. Disabling Cortana on the anniversary version is a fucking nightmare. There are force updates that a user can't opt out of. Windows 10 sends telemetry data and ignores the hosts files, the DNS protocol and some basic firewall rules. Also, twice per year you may reinstall software deemed not required by Microsoft. And finally, older games and applications either do not work or have severe problems (P99 falls into this category, look at all the posts in the P99 Forums where people inquire/bitch about it).

Bottom Line: Windows 10 sucks.

Pretty sure it does. But according to this article (http://www.itprotoday.com/windows-10/enterprise-customers-will-be-able-disable-windows-10-telemetry) from 2015, Enterprise customers will be able to disable. Still, I think its an unnecessary thing to have as a default setting of an operating system.
