View Full Version : Maybe it's the alcohol?

So here I was with a couple of my buddies xp'ing on my cleric in WW. A twinked out druid wanted an invite so I did. This necro then started to go on how awesome he is. That he has a 60. Assuming I must be shitting bricks because of the "insane" pulls. Left to go take a shit without telling anyone while we pulled multiple mobs! My point is, no one likes a bragger and a elitist dickhead. So...thegray, eat a big fat one because I will never group with you again. I have been drinking whiskey all night so...maybe it is the alcohol talking?

Don't endure douchebags imo, just tell them to can it or remove them from the group. Only way they'll learn. Or if you're the only one who has an issue / you're not the group leader, use /ignore or just take a break or find a different group.

Dunno why people stress over certain people when they'll probably never have to deal with them again outside of that group.

This is good advice and the direction that I go (ecept for /ignore, only ever used that on someone who was spamming (non-stop) rolls at events and another fellow who was spamming ooc about another player's rl death :/) with all irredeemable douchebags. I've only ever actually met one though ^^ Most people, no matter how cranky will perk up if you rub them the right way. It takes effort though and if you don't have fun doing it then, yeah just boot their ass or find another group or be a duck (water-back-yknow).

So the guy had a mini-medical emergency, had to take care of natural bodily functions, failed to alert you in group chat in his haste to run to the bathroom, and because you pulled a few monsters while this happened he's an awful person that is an elitist dickhead and you will never group with him, ever again? Sounds to me like you doing him the favor.

And if that's what drinking does to you, yeah, stop drinking too. It makes you ugly.

EQ is about exclusion and making everyone not in your guild feel inferior. This is classic behavior - however dealing with P99 royalty becomes a bit easier when you are established on the server. If you have been playing here since 2010 i would think you have a 60 as well?

I have had a char since 2010 and not yet hit 60.

This is a good thing.

People should say when they are going afk, it's a very simple courtesy. SO I don't completely disagree with your post.

Personally I just would have just asked him to please announce afk's in the future, and left it at that, refusing to group with him again seems to be a bit much.

Also if you're already drinking and somebody starts bragging about their fake elf that exists on a drive somewhere, just inform people that you're too drunk to do shots every time that they mention their main.
Or let them know that you're in a relationship and can't drive to their house to blow them whenever they mention their pixels and please just stop, it's making your heart ache terribly but the world that you want and the world that you live in can often be two very different places.

People playing Everquest usually have one thing in common, they play Everquest. Talking about your other characters or the stuff you have is the EQ equivalent of a normal human conversation. Like my kid just started second grade, or my husband and I bought jacuzzi. But I don't have a kid, husband, or jacuzzi so maybe I'll talk about my elves.

True. But it also can have different effects depending on HOW you talk about such things. Most people on P99 can manage to handle a little braggadocio when it comes to their "mains' or gears they got on alts... It's how someone talks about their pixels though, that can rub others the wrong way.

Then again, this guy seems angry at the world and probably viewed harmless light conversation about pixels as the other guy being an obnoxious, self-entitled dickhead who should never be grouped with again. Who knows.

Iunno, bragging about pixels is a fairly necessary faux pas on P99, which I think is a good thing. I mean, if someone asks me about my pixels I'll happily discuss my pixels, and that can certainly turn into a bit of harmless boasting - don't get me started on about my Windstriker.

On the other hand, excessive not-so-humble bragging can be done humorously if the person is self-aware enough to know how much of a jackass they sound like. It's the clueless, sincere assholes that bother me - the ones who start commanding group members around like some kind of neckbearded commandant.

"You invited a shaman?! That spot should be for a DPS class! This is not the most optimal, efficient exp-grinding pixel-mining group makeup!! Being as I have the best pixels in this group, I'll be making the calls from now on."

Talk about murdering a nostalgia buzz.

lol I agree. But I also know how people are, and I can tolerate some bragging. I hate groups like you describe too. Just had this in MM early morning actually. Amazing such awful attitudes can be found even in lowbie dungeons/zones.

thegray is the biggest douche ive ever grouped with on Project 1999 thus far. Hes a shithead that was pulling aggro from man tank while fear kiting. its like he got a hard on thinking he had all this skill. when i seen him he was a level 12 necro that was /anon ><

Your analogy falls short. It's not that talking about EQ in EQ is like talking about buying a jacuzzi with normal adults, it's that talking about your awesome gear and main in a group of lowbie newbs is like bragging about your new jacuzzi while you're dishing out food at the local soup kitchen. It's unnecessary and makes you a dick.

I do t talk about my loots, but it because they don't much matter to me. People should t get their feels hurt when someone brags about their stuff. In doing so, you assume inferiority, which is just retarded. Why would you identify as inferior. Do t do that :p I derive very little satisfaction from accomplishments though :/ I am all about the experience ^^

Woke post. I refer my fellow-elves to this (http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254976) thread on the collapse of Ways of Yore, a progression guild which suffered an officer revolt and collapse after a player was booted for allegedly bringing talk outside of the boundaries defined above into guild chat. Still looking for answers.

So wait let me get this straight.

You were grouping with friends in Warsliks Woods.
You were drinking.
You invited a twinked druid.
The necro in your group said he was awesome and pulled lots of mobs.
The necro annoyed you.
You took a shit without telling anyone.
You were still drinking.
You made this post in RnF.

I still don't understand.

As I understand it:

Dude was grouped with friends in WW
Dude was Drinking
Dude invited a twinked Druid (Could have meant Twinked Necro as group was described initially as all friends)
Necro brags about his main
Necro assumed that the dude was shitting bricks as a cleric due to the frequency of pulls.
Necro seriously annoyed the drunk dude
Necro AFKed to take a dump without telling the group
Post was made in RnF
A couple other posters confirm that Necro is a giant douche
