You're dreaming if u actually think this would improve anything.

More dragons is just gonna make more nerds hungrier for raiding

Suddenly, the forums will inform prospective raiders that it's healthy to raid here, there's plenty of mobs, and it's fun! Which is false.

Why?

All the new raiders will suddenly demand MORE MORE MORE. Petition numbers will increase, believe it or not there are people whose egos are based on their weekly dragon kills and that won't change if the spawns are devalued by a couple extra pops a month. The shit storm will only grow, Rogean and Co will stop popping just to punish the truly disgusting scene of man child dragon fighters, and we will have to start all over watching the half life of the p99 server begin to tick.

We have made good progress folks. The only people still raising are those infirm souls beyond redemption. Soon they will rot, and we will be Cleansed in the year of our Lord 2017.

Skarlorn who are you really. You've been blowing up the forums since you joined. I don't believe for a second that you're not an anom alt. Probably banned for stupid shit.
You also instantly attached yourself to many of the RnF'ers / RnF 2.0 posters.

"7. The impetus of change swings vulgarly before our eyes! Waste not the wanton cries of justice bleeding from the torn womb of resolve from whence it came, its bare and broken form hanging pitfully in the insatiable maw of dependency, an unwitting chaperone to its own demise.

Here's your problem.

It's not 1999 any more.

There isn't an absence of large scale MMORPG games. There have been hundreds and virtually none of them have limited the content in the way that Everquest did. If you want to schedule a raid for a set time so your guild filled with people who have decent jobs and proper schedules can play and raid you can. And it works. There is no increase in the demand by the top end (in fact, the very, very hard core tend to vanish sooner rather than later, freeing up MORE content for MORE people).

All the myths from 1999 have proved false. Having more than a Warrior able to tank doesn't stop people playing and enjoying and being successful as Warriors. Having more than Clerics being able to heal doesn't stop people playing and enjoying and being successful as Clerics. You don't have to spend inordinate amounts of time to achieve the smallest thing to invest in a game.

The solution to the end game is not a couple more pops per month. Its several pops of all raid mobs PER DAY. That's the only way you remove the ability of a tiny number of players to dominate the raiding scene.

hate to break it to you, pve in every one of those games has been lame and g@y. the only point in them has been PvP. Which is great.

People being obsessive in the raid scene is classic – Everquest is about exclusion and being smug, and if you disagree then you don’t remember classic EQ very well and are also probably gay/fat

The thing is , there would still be plenty of room for that if their were weekly repops.

See, wall staring actually limits competition and smugness. Most people don't want to play "Stakeout Quest," so only a small number of people ever even get serious to begin with. This also cuts into your ability to be smug -- because most people consider it stupid anyway.

The game of EQ is Brad's masterpiece of self prophecy.

Much like his career, it starts off great. You work with friends to accomplish goals which would be impossible otherwise. There is seemingly no limit to expression of character, places to explore, or monsters to hunt (he could do anything after Eq).

Then, you get to dragon raiding. The long awaited promise (personally success for Lord Brad). But this is where everything goes wrong. Suddenly you and your elf friends are smoking crack instead of weed, and your guild(company) splits over a loot (funding) dispute. In the chaos, someone wakes the sleeper (develops addiction to cocaine) and there's no going back. You will never be a young elf with all of Norrath before you.

All that is left is a repetitive dragon race that leads to nothing except furthering your own addiction and mental illness (promising vaporware) .

Would p99 be VSoH in this analogy? Thank you for your response.

Also, maybe ^ 。^

I would say p99 is the nostalgic feeling Brad gets when he thinks about his greatest success. And if he follows that nostalgic feeling, it leads to the same cycle of chasing the dragon

If only anything Brad used to post to alt.games.everquest in the run up to the EQ launch had actually tallied with the game that was delivered.

The bottom line is Brad failed with EQ, it was nothing like the game he intended it to be in most respects. But, fwiw, he made decent dough, so fair play to him.

I find the Hardcore stay around longer. They get to do their raids when they like the same as everyone else, and can bang their heads against it trying to get the first kills as long as they like.
Difference is, everyone else gets to have a shot too. That doesn't mean the hardcore have scrubs nipping at their heels though, despite what people here seem to think. They just progress a lot slower than the better guilds. That's competition.
