View Full Version : Custom server idea to prevent end-game crowding.

I just had an idea for a server that might prevent the end-game congestion and max-level glut. The game plays to level 50 like normal, but then when you ding 51 you have only 2 months to ding 52 after which you return to the start of 50. If you make it into 52, the 2 month timer resets and you have 2 months to make 53 after which you return to 50 if you haven't dinged 53 in that time. This carries on all the way to level 60, where you only get 2 months to be 60 and then you automatically return to level 50 to start the progression again. If you lose a level during your 2 months, for instance going from 57 to 56, you still have to complete the original level target in that time, in that case 58, or you will return to 50 again. All gear and spells and skill ups are kept when you return to 50, though the regular level caps still apply.

I think that this would make it so that nobody can have a ton of level 60's at once and they wouldn't be able to get BiS gear on multiple toons. It'd keep the players in the end game rotating through and it might make encounters more difficult since it would be hard to amass 100 level 60's under one guild tag for very long.

Now the argument will come in that getting to 60 and raiding is the fun part of EverQuest; this wouldn't be the server for you.

Not classic, but that's why it's titled custom server idea.

Flame away.

So the big guilds power lvl their members and normal players get screwed? Don't think it'll work mate.

Also, what if I want to take a break for a month or 2? I have to re-level? I'd probably quit.

Best end-game idea I've heard so far was wipe it clean.

it would work but not in the way you intended. ie: congestion gone but no-one is there at all now.

idea could be cool if consistency and error free gaming gave an arbitrary power boost or buff that degraded over time or with massive error, i dont think that would produce less congestion though.

Best end-game idea is release Luclin and then Planes of Power.

If those are too large of undertakings, release just Vex Thal. Have the portal to VT be in Vulak's room and it only appears when NToV is cleared of names and the Vulak drakes are dead.

Would be some good shit raiding VT with Velious mechanics and gear and no AAs

Your guild would just find a way to exploit mechanics and progress per-usual anyway.

Pretty sh!t post OP - Why would this be any better than instancing? Reducing people to level 50 and having to grind back to 60 is the most ridiculous thing I can imagine in EQ.

i could just quote this and enough said, but you really need to know how badly you fcked up Ravagor.

this is the literally worst end game idea i've ever heard...? force players to repeat the shittiest, most grueling 10 levels of their time in the game... over and over

how the F do you get here and not get to

"after 2-4 months of being max level, a level 60 character is transfered to the 60 only server, so that level 60s can't lock down all content for leveling players"

Does this clear things up for you? I'm guessing you've never actually hit 60. Better luck next time.

Being 50 with best in slot gear wouldn't be bad at all, and would foster a more connected community.

Thanks Ravager for always thinking outside the box. A true casual.

I have another cool idea for custom content. When you create a new account, a set of electrodes is sent to your home address - the electrodes attach any house hold electrical socket and also allow your computer access to the server. Anytime you want to login you must cover yourself in vaseline and connect the electrodes to your genitalia (in the case of Tranny, attach to nipples). Whenever you die in combat a massive electrical shock is released and you earn a Harambe Token...Dragons and Gods also drop additional Harambe Tokens. You can then bid your Harambe Tokens towards a player. When that player receives 10 Harambe Tokens, a massive electrical shock courses through them as well.

This way good players and bad players both have opportunities to gain Harambe Tokens

Edit: I would like to change "Harambe Token" to "Harambe Tear"

i definately was wrong in that it was rnf ... what i was saying definately would be horrible here... custom threw me off too...

i just meant meaningful oppurtunity advantages similar to an exp advantage that could b gained and exploited in other games... like chess where consistency and error free play can be extremely advantageous
