16 hour windows are fucking stupid.
Give me a reason for them.
Do they help casual guilds? no. It takes too many people willing to track.
Do they help make the server less hardcore? no, there are too many willing to stare that long.
Do they make the server better to play on? certainly not. Because their is nothing fun about waiting. The run up is fun -- but sitting down 15 hours before it basically disqualifies 99% server that has shit to do with their life.
I don't know the entire server history and why someone somewhere thought 16 hour windows was a good idea... But it really is a terrible idea. It is worse now that the windows are spread throughout the week.
Now that it isn't completely obvious that Awakened is the guild benefiting, I'm hoping some of their members will man up and admit they suck.

Server just needs more resets.....when awakened ate a raid ban, aftermath took their sweet time clearing ToV and spread out the windows all over the week....now instead of 16 dragons with 16 hour windows spawning within 48 hours in one zone, you have 16 dragons with 16 hour windows spawning any day of the week....

We were trying to put them on the weekend and then other guilds interfered. It wasn't on purpose.

Just to clarify. I totally get that tracking 16 hours is part of EQ...I just disagree that it should be every target every week.

Don't be mad your guild is losing mobs. These threads only come up at a very crucial time for you. Also you spread out the mobs too much which makes you guys stupid.

From my understanding of things, the reason for the long variance is basically a punishment for some of the older guilds (TMO) monopolizing content and bullying the entire server. There was a belief amongst the staff that these guilds would burn out and only people who really needed an item would track a specific mob and balance would find itself…but it just hasn’t played out like that unfortunately. The reality of P99 is there are enough people who are either unemployed, work from home, or are willing/able to log into the game within 20 seconds of a batphone/wake up channel call. The 2 big guilds have people who track every single dragon in Velious every single week for the full duration of each spawn.
I don’t believe P99 was meant to be played like this, the “point” of this raid gear is borderline meaningless at this stage of the game, but then again maybe my EQ goals are just different than some others – to each their own. I tried raiding hardcore and I just can’t justify it to myself, the raid attendance requirements do not mesh with someone who can only play after work and on the weekends… Sirken should make a law that we can only kill dragons between 6pm and 11pm CST and it would solve a lot of problems.

DKP systems are for idiots.
Consult Salaryman on r99 and staff, they can confirm this is how it works.

I hope you guys realize I'm not stupid enough to write this post when my guild is vulnerable. I feel like we are doing better than awakened and out future looks fine with the status quo; but that really should be besides the point.

I can't be penalized for DKP. You don't post asking for less variance unless your mad you lost a mob because you weren't complaining when you get them.

As long as raid targets are clumped together stuff is constantly happening on fixed days and provides content for all time zones. The variance and number of targets makes sure people aren't just watching one spot. A casual guild could show up at ToV for like 4 hours and have a really good chance to compete for a dragon...problem is drift with +/-8 hours variance on respawn and spawn timers never resetting...the server needs an earthquake window of like 45-60 days...at some predetermined random interval since the last earthquake, let's say between 1 and 60 days later, another earthquake THAT RESETS SPAWN TIMERS needs to happen

this would make a glorious experiment. keep increasing variance until poopsocking ceases or subhumans start dying off like a Chinese internet cafe. I think the magic number would be at least double 96 hours though.
Keep 16 hour variance, but the clock only runs when every NPC in the zone is dead.

Just change respawnnof raid mobs to 28min and decrease drop rates accordingly. May need to alter a few mechanics here and there like V's dragons summoning, but otherwise it allows players to actually play instead of wait ^^

We had 96 hour windows for years. It didn't stop the sock.
We also had 96 hour windows with indefinite extensions of +0-24 hours if the spawn time generated happened to be within the last 25% of the total possible window.
There were a few times that VS was 2 days overdue to spawn and it was socked solid for those 48 hours after he should have spawned in the original 96 hour window.

The idea is to make windows long enough that tracking takes more work for the same reward, essentially every hour you track is worth less than before=disincentive to track. At the moment people put up with it cause they can set aside a few hours here and there and know there's a 30% chance they'll see a spawn. Afk autoboot to get rid of screen share tracking (a workaround to 2 boxing),and you'll have guilds that actually have to put in some mega time to get merbs=less 1 sidedness. Also with every mob up you can't really move away from a target even after you kill it, so top guilds will prioritize just high end shit and other stuff might be left up.
Sorry if we stood you up a few times, don't take it so personally we're just not into that scene as much at you are.
