Just an FYI, I made a gnome enchanter with these "new" graphics and discovered that the gnome area still has crappy old water textures.

I thought my game was glitching! They start you out staring at a waterfall, and it looks really bad. I wonder why? Are there more places with old graphics after this fix?

I'm running on the theory at this point that replacing all the S3D files would be done before using Duxa's all in one installer, as part of what it offers to do is remove post-P99 content, and so it will remove the stuff after it's been replaced. I think. Will see! Normally I don't do 2 unrelated operations cumulative before seeing if the steps worked, but here goes.

I can't seem to download this - it's just sits at 0.0/1.1 GB before timing out. Is anyone else having trouble? I have the updated textures from Live, but the geometry includes Luclin spires etc. and I'd rather they weren't there.

I ran into the problem described by others after replacing the zones with the high res versions of noticing very little difference. I realized I needed to use the options from the login screen to select high in texture quality.

I've tried the link from OP and the download fails after a few minutes. Tried with a download manager, but that seems to corrupt the zip file.

I have the live version of Everquest installed, could I use the s3d files from that install?

Those textures are the opposite of classic in my opinion. I am no technical expert though so I'm unsure if it's possible. Part of the draw of EQ to me was its ability to astonish you even with its graphic simplicity.

Repackage global_chr.s3d using the bitmaps and S3DSpy
Check in game
Rinse, Repeat

Every texture has a standard naming scheme:
Example = "humch0001.bmp"
"hu" = Race
"m" = Sex
"ch" = Armor Location
"00" = Armor Type
"01" = Part

Our textures were upscaled using a superior denoise algorithm and converted to DDS for memory conservation so you'll crash less often, whereas Chebby's texture package (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121490) from 2013 will cause your client to crash more often. Our package includes a ton of completely redone textures which are mostly true to classic aesthetics - basically all held items including weapons and shields have been painstakingly pored over and manually improved. Our package includes Sorn's masterfully reworked character faces (see the screenshot thread). Our package includes all transparency patcher fixes (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87281) preapplied, as well as all of Zaela's animation and particle fixes, and a litany other miscellaneous transparency, semi-transparency, and cosmetic fixes which are all unique to our package.

Yes but you have to delete the original files first (good idea also to back them up to a new folder).

I might be interested in the character graphical improvement, but not the rest.

Sharpening the bad graphics is not an improvement to me.
Part of what makes the poor, blurry graphics tolerable for me is that my imagination can more easily fill in the missing detail; allowing greater immersion
[and for me personally, immersion is one of the most important aspects].

I understand not everyone has the same ability or inclination to imagine things, or judge aesthetics, so i'm not criticizing,
just throwing in my 2 cents.

If you're unsure download both, copy and paste your entire EQ folder somewhere and try both. Post the results when you know which is which.
