This is an allround "fuck you" kick to all those pussys who dont have the balls to say the truth.
I mean those assholes who join a group and leave 5min later and say something like
- "sorry mates, my guild needs me for an epic fight. Need to go"
- "sorry, my wife just got home drunk and wants to kill me"
- "I have to go because Obama needs me"

In most cases those are lies, and we all know it. Just say the truth..

- "Ya nice mates, but the exp/ratio sucks in this group. I go and try my luck somewhere else sorry"
- "Sorry, but this group is pretty boring, and it just isnt fun for me"
- "I cant stand the loot whore here and like to move on"

I usually tell the group what the problem is I'm having with one or several members of it. Tell them that if the problem isn't fixed I'll leave. I look for a replacement but if the problem persists I leave, replacement or not.

9 times out of 10 they never understand why I have a problem with something.

So I guess it is easier for people to make up excuses so they can save face rather then piss off a group of people who don't understand the problem.

Joined an RCY group last night on my enchanter and after 15-20 minutes it became obvious that the Dial A Port druid was afk and only checking in to redo sow/regen.

35 in the zone anyway and I ended up staying about 30 mins before saying that there was no way I was getting through 51 with nothing to kill so wished them well and left...but not before calling the druid out for his afks and told the group to drop him til he got back :p

That said, if you are baby sitting, on call, have a vigilante super hero persona: just let the group know before you join! It really helps to know who might be leaving at a moment's notice when filling slots.

No one is going to be mad at you because you got an impatient, bitchy wife if you just give fair warning first.

If someone's going to leave, he's going to leave--doesn't much matter what he says. I agree it's amusing when the player provides a clearly made-up excuse, but at the same time if he's having a bad day on EQ (we've all been there) there's no reason to rant or burn bridges. Of course, on a related note, most of us likely know a few players who *always* leave the instant things turn sour or go slow but who consistently stick around to collect loot when things are going well. This latter group of players tend to be universally reviled by their guildmates.
