LOL MIND BLOWING, P99 is finally reaching the end of its shelf life, TMO disbanded and some players left, now BDA gets the right idea and leaves. player numbers are at an all time low and someone has the bright idea to just make a new server to start everything over only to have less people this time around and still end up with the same garbage content P99 has to offer today. Face it guys, with the EQ progression servers and other EQemu servers that were "not allowed to talk about", P99 is reaching the end of its life, i predicted all of it and i dont even play a wizard. For years ive said if P99 would make another server that goes past velious i would play there religiously, but after dealing with GM's and seeing how poor of a job they do, i wouldnt come back if P99 offered me a salary with free cocain and hookers. Good riddance P99.

talking about blue, gave away a full set of crystal chitin armor, full set of black panther skin armor, efreeti boots, some 7k enchanter spell zumiaks animation i think. circlet of tallon, granite bracer, heiro cloak, book of obulous, frozen orb, stave of shielding, a few k plat,some other stuff. most stuff i have is no trade from raiding /epics. Gave it to someone newish to the server. anyways, atleast someone will get some good use out of it.

I think this is an unfair criticism and basically an attack on the good work the TAK project folks are putting in to their own server.

Just because they make a new server with a low population and boxing doesn't mean you can be sarcastic about their server being a 'bright idea'.

Everyone knows what this server is when they start, its a nostalgia game and not meant for any type of progression or to consume your entire life.

Couple things for you.

1. You don't have to box and not everyone that plays does.

2. Big stuff happening with updates. Luclin coming out end of year and tons of new updates.

3. Resists and other shit isn't broken like it is broken on P99, HOWEVER P99 is still as classic as it comes and offers a lot of fun. This is mainly to say that TOV resists and other melee/spell casting that is not very classic on P99 is more classic on 2002.

4. Enjoy your life, whether it be miserable or wonderful.

p99 has been the golden age, and probably is only the beginning. You do know some people have been playing the same MUD's for like 25yrs? After mmo's die off, EQ will still be here, and a few indie mmo's out there that didn't f-up their games like most others have.

What has happened, PEQ set the stage, then P99 set the standard. If your ragequitting is just to promote another eq emu server, then youradipshit, because you are preaching to the choir as most here likely have chars on other servers in the server select list.

Monday when I looked there was 172 characters logged in. Server base is quite strong, new people coming all the time. Some stay, some don't, but you will be able to find groups at almost any level if you want, or you can box. It's a great community as has been said many times. The economy is still a little under developed mostly because people just give things away for free, but that is starting to shift slightly as well. There are rumors of some dramatic changes coming soon related to the clunky client that most people don't like, me included, but it is definitely not "unplayable" and is in fact pretty dang classic if that's what your after.

I never played on TAKP, I was looking at both servers when I decided to make the jump and I went with p2002. It's been fun. There hasn't been a night where I've logged on and not been able to find people to hang out with if I want. I've read the drama about the developers between the two servers and the drama about a certain former guide on P99, but honestly the idea that P2002 is somehow unstable or unplayable is really unfounded. Granted there are bugs, mostly related to connectivity issues as the population grows specifically when there are two major raids going on at the same time, but for the most part it has been quite enjoyable.

P99 numbers at all time low? Did the server even break 1k concurrent online players prior to Kunark launch? There was a pretty significant stretch of time where 400-600 players were US prime time numbers. Raid scene is worse than it ever was, at least from a fun/competitive stand point imo, but pretty much everything else on the server seems to going fine. Not quite sure how a free and largely accurate representation of velious era EQ has failed.

There is extensive bug testing by the community going on now, I'd expect the switch to happen in 6-8 weeks. By the end of Next year we will effectively be P99 but with 3-boxing allowed (but not by any means required) and in PoP era. Also bards will have Melody, so no more carpal tunnel yay! :)
