I spent 10 minutes reading a thread about t-staff shenanigans and rolled my eye's as people literally posted post after post about fingering each others bum instead of just pvping over it.

also, there are so many dragons up on Red99 atm ready to be killed ( it is literally nearly humanly impossible to kill them all with one guild ).

So stop wasting your time spending 3 hrs LFG for shit house XP, and 16 hrs tracking a Fay pop and come over to Red where literally you could have gained 20 levels in the time it took you to track that Water Dragon Shield for your RMTing guild leader ( we know this is a prevalent issues on blue, anyone who's payed here knows it)

Well, it's like the blue server except you can kill other players and the line for loot is about 5 people long.

Except EQ Pvp isnt balanced and is shit compared to basically any other PvP type game. Verant made 3 pvp servers, threw red tags on players and said good luck and forgot about it. Basically what red server is :)

That's not true, there's some pvp spells out there you don't use in pve.

i have bards covering lvl 30-60 range ready to grief if you are new and trying to level outside.

if you are levelling in a dungeon i have over a dozen characters ready to train and pvp your xp groups

What benefit would this be to a casual player of the game? Is RED more for the hard core players that have several hours or more daily? What classes are in need or best to play on this PvP server? I hear a lot about unbalance from certain classes & not a fan of a one sided gank-fest, so please answer these with serious replies.

EQ PvP is for hardcore players. The only way you would have fun as a casual is if you were previously hardcore enough to get to gear. Unless your an oddball that loves playing some high demmand PvE class (enchanters and clerics are probably in high demand) and never PvP.

Small group or solo PvP is pretty intricate but highly gear-based -- I find large pvp to be faceroll.

and the servers are at the extremes. one is over crowded. the other is sparse.
we're just having a red movement.
and no i dont want to play by myself, that is why we encourage more red players.

There is no benefit to playing on RED. It is a dead server, hence all the red people coming on blue forums desperately trying to get a larger pop.

EQ PvP being "unbalanced" is some kind of urban legend started by someone who tried it, failed at it, and decided the problem wasn't his lack of skill but the rules of the game.

Saying EQ PvP is unbalanced is like saying combat sports are unbalanced because you can't just walk in a boxing club as a beginner and start whooping ass. You'll get your ass kicked for sure. Is it because "boxing is unbalanced"?

The learning curve is a bit steep, but so is boxing. It takes a while before you even start to understand what you are doing.

Even awful PvPers such as me eventually learn stuff and score some kills and avoid some deaths. It's really not that bad. Some classes are better overall PvP'ers for sure, but it's all very situational and the most important part is to learn that situationality of each class and how to avoid situations where you're likely the underdog. That takes maybe a couple months tops even for a borderline retard PvPer such as myself.

And I can guarantee you that scoring a legit PvP kill is a satisfaction and a thrill that people on blue simple never get a chance to experience.

Hey thanks for the clear answer + honesty. I guess the main questions now are; What could one do to recycle or make it a server that people would want to log in to in the future? Is it even feasible without a major over haul, wipe or fresh idea from the start?

1. Keep Blue as it is
2. Make Green99 as an additional server pre-kunark
3. Soon as Green99 wakes the sleeper* - merge it to Blue and make a new Green.

This way people can experience progression gameplay every couple years or however much will waking the sleeper take from a fresh Green launch.


* Actually probably leave a few months after Sleeper is awoken before merging. So people get to experience the awoken-sleeper velious for a few as well.
