Hello,

I'm thinking about making an enchanter. I have a few questions :

- The 2 main statistics for an enchanter are INT and CHA ?
- What is the best class race to make an enchanter ? (I don't care if my character looks good, I just want it to be efficient)
- How would you use your 30 bonus points ? 20 for INT and 10 for CHA seems good to you ?

If you have any advice to give me, I would be grateful,

Thanks !

For "efficiency," either a Dark Elf or High Elf mate. Just a matter of preference from there.

The best race to make an enchanter is human, as human beings are currently the only race of intelligent creatures that are capable of playing this game, that we know of. Dolphins might be intelligent enough, but are limited due to their environment and lack of opposable digits.

None of the above.

Once past level 35 it will make no difference.

What the hell lets go there. I like Erudite since the high INT score means you can focus on getting CHA and HP items earlier. Going High Elf sacrifices 15 INT to get 10 CHA vs an Erudite. Plus Eruds can move to Queynos and have easy access to quests that reward +3 INT earrings and a +3 CHA necklace. Of courses my current Chanter is High Elf since I never played that race on live.

Do not stress about CHA early on since it impacts resists for lulls and charm spells only. Get it above 100 at some point. That is easily done with a Crude Stein (+15) and a Golden Cat's Eye Amulet (+7). When you're ready to make charm a full part of your repertoire then push to 200.

Great advice! Just curious, roughly about how much does it cost to get the cheapest gear that will bring your CHA to 200? At what level is the earliest that this can be done?

Race doesn't matter that much. I would be Dark elf personally. Ultravision is good. Some say Hide is nice for breaking charms. Int/charisma is okay. You can run the Stein of Moggok at lvl 8 instead of 12. It really doesn't matter much though. Oh, do pick Agnostic as your religion. That is the most important thing.

Dark Elf for enchaner, there only race that gets hide. Instant break charm > Any other race.

Gear list from the Wiki (http://moestaverne.com/p1999wiki/index.php/Enchanter#Pre-Planar) Plus Xornn's guide (http://xornn.tripod.com/index.htm) is very complete here.

At what level is the earliest that this can be done? It can be done at level 34 since at that level comes Radiant Visage (+30 CHA). This means the target CHA stat is 170 before buffs but better at level 49 since the target is only 160.

Just curious, roughly about how much does it cost to get the cheapest gear that will bring your CHA to 200?

Cheap. Maybe 1,000 to 1,500pp total expenditure. This of course depends how much time spent on questing vs time in the EC tunnel. This depends on the prices that day in the EC tunnel but CHA gear seems to run cheaper then INT gear. Crude Stein 25pp and Golden Cat's Eye Amulets for 35pp each while similar +INT gear would go for over 500pp. Also this assumes some effort in questing some items instead of buying everything in EC.

Starting with a base of 85 CHA you could get to 199 CHA (including buffs) at 34.

Crude Stein (+15)
Golden Cat's Eye Amulets x2 (+14)
Opalline Earring x2 (+10)
Cat Eye Platinum Necklace (+9)
Drake-Hide Leggings (+5)
Incandescent Mask (+7) (Just hang out in U Guk and do the quest)
Small Resistance deity (+2)*
Golden Star Ruby Ring x2 (+10)
Rod of Insidious Glamor (+12) (Just hang out in U Guk and do the quest)
*Missing from the Wiki list.

This leaves head, back, shoulders, hands, feet, arms, chest and waist for +INT, HP and Mana. With more money maybe some better trades offs can be made.

If you look good then you feel good. If you feel good then your gonna play good. Think about this, before the most important moments in your life why do you always reach for that soft cotten shirt with the perfect sized neckhole?

There really is no "best race," it's all about your personal preference. I went Gnome, eventhough I don't really get any "advantage" from doing so. Your race gives you character!

This new one puts an ENC over 200 (including buffs) so switching out the Rod of Insidious Glamor for the Nobles Robe might be a good option.

Actually if you are a min/maxing high end raider. The best race is probably Human (max your point into stamina). Dark Elf does get hide, but it doesn't always work and in the end you're going to want a goblin ring anyway.
In the end game (if you get there), you are going to max int and cha fairly easy (remember that cha can be buffed). But you probably wont max stamina, even in Velious.
That being said, only a small portion of the server gets this kind of gear. For all practical consideration for most players id go for Erudite or High Elf (high elf is barely worse). You will be able to actually max your important stats with planar gear this way.
Considering it doesn't really matter that much at all, there is no real issue with going Dark Elf or Gnome. It might actually be more practical to go DE if you don't want to get the ring for a long time.

Actually maxing int and charisma both, even with buffs, is rather hard. I don't think you can really do it in Kunark gear, even as an erudite or high elf, unless you have PD drops.

Made it to level 4. I am currently a bone chip bitch for some Mage who pays me 10pp per stack. Enough to buy my spells and food, so I am happy for now.
