View Full Version : Raid Scene: Tools & Rules Suggestion

Looking for honest feedback as to whether or not this is a good idea... I'm new to 'end game' or 'high value target' raiding, so would like some veterans to weigh in.

I was present during the Kael KT fiasco last night, it seemed to me that a few slight rule tweaks along with tools players can use can help alleviate the problems I saw from last night.

The issue seemed to be someone got FTE but only had themselves or maybe a few guildies in the zone. Another guild arrives with full raid force (50+ people) and see only a few others in zone. How do we know who really has FTE claim if we weren't there? Is this honor system? GM involvement?

It would be nice if a custom command like /FTE could be used while you are in the zone (NOT outside the zone). Could look something like:

/FTE
----------------------------
King Tormax - <Awakened> - 22 mins left before forfeit
Derekor the Vindicator - <Azure Guard> - 33 mins left before forfeit

There are currently 2 targets with active FTE status in Kael Drakkel
----------------------------

This could really help alleviate a shit show and make things easier on GMs. I personally would like to see rules in place on a 'qualified' FTE where you need a 'raid force of intent' in the zone to qualify on the /FTE command. Such as 10 guildies in zone during an FTE to get on the /FTE list. If at any time less than 10 are in the zone, the FTE timer expires.

The /FTE command could have different timers for different spawns. Could also put rules in place to prevent qualifying for the /FTE list (multiple fail attempts, engaged FTE targets in other zones, etc).

Will this work? Is it possible to make a custom /FTE command even in the UI? If not, can a more useless command be used and modified (/charinfo? maybe even the /who list?).

Looking forward to the feedback.

You should lose your Kael FTE if you FTE anything somewhere else. Sirken makes sacks of hammers look like mensa candidates. Rogean, whatever pictures he has of you to keep his job throuh this much gross incompetence cant be THAT naughty.

The fact that we are here talking about this shows the extent of how awful the raid scene is on this server.

It's a constructive suggestion, but imo there has already been enough non-classic 'enhancements' made to this server to deal with sort of people who play here.

Thank you, and I do agree on the non-classicness of current enhancements. I seem to recall the live raid scene was non GM involvement.

But since we're down this road, just feel it is a simple add-on

Good idea, should be easy to implement and would clarify the situation. Not that I am raiding anymore... Raid guilds are just too busy messing with each other to make it more fun than having a tooth pulled without anaestesia...

You leave the zone and you forfeit the FTE. You don't have a raid force in zone 10 minutes after FTE you forfeit it, or people will just foot race and never even have their raid forces there. You engage another raid target, you forfeit the FTE.

I'd think more like 1 - 2 mins or it's a stall.

Sounds like there was no E in this FTE. All they did was poke it and then bail.

How many raid targets are still sitting there, waiting on red 99?

Who needs instancing when you can FTE a mob and go about your day to kill it later! What a great server!

Then you're obviously the one to come up with some creative and innovate solution that 100s of other people haven't thought of. Problem solved. Good work.

Sarcasm. How constructive.

If the first guild claimed FTE, and didn't really get FTE...then they would be risking a big suspension I'd assume, if they were caught.

I dont really understand why Sirken supported FTEing a mob in a certain zone and then leaving it up to contest somewhere else and be able to kill at your leisure.

But he did. Going for another mob should forfeit any other currently active FTE but /shrug.

With the raid scene how it is currently if there is no change made expect to soon have guilds parking runners in every zone with a raid target in the game so that they can just FTE everything and then work through them all one at a time with the raid force. And i guess FTEing Vulak will be the first thing of priorety since he soon causes FTE on all north dragons at the same time.

This is P99. It will happen.

Except racing only applies to Kael and VP, and there's a good chance the upcoming rule changes will fix those issues.

a guild "FTE'd" Tormax and Statue in Kael.

said guild left the zone to contest mobs in TOV.

you would think FTE was dropped at that point, right?

Why would Sirken hover over Kael and protect that guild's right to FTE on those mobs for an hour?

I smell a marshmellow conspiracy.

You're lucky you weren't banned for using autofire in Sol B, I wouldn't needle the staff too much lol

You have no idea what you are talking about as usual. Go back into retirement and stay there this time.

I think he most likely made a ruling based on limited and/or flawed information, in a game that he doesn't currently play or have extensive knowledge of. Listening to portions of the raid summit podcast, I noticed that he didn't know what zone Yelinak is in. That's not to bash him at all... just to give some perspective. When a judge has limited knowledge and possibly bad or falsified evidence, it's more understandable to see a completely baffling and incredulous ruling like this. The alternative explanation is much less palatable, given Sirken's repeated use of the mantra "follow the spirit of the rules" above all else.

Seems like people are a little too worked up over it, though. I mean, these kinds of shenanigans are the standard on this server and have been for years. Aftermath implicitly warned the rest of the server in the raid discussion thread that if they didn't clarify the time limit to engage after the foot race FTE, it would be exploited. It was argued over and no resolution was reached, so they exploited it. Nothing surprising at all here, except for the fact that Sirken backed them up. And he could always reexamine that ruling with a more complete set of facts, and change his mind.
