I believe the intended punchline is the implication that we are "betas". "Beta" is a memeword parroted by 14-year-olds on 4chan's /r9k/ board and by many Redditors, as well as having extensive market share on the p99 Red R&F section's Tumblr.

I don't blame you for not getting this joke. It comes from a very low and servile sense of "humor" that finds amusement not in things which are ironical or funny, but in referencing an in-joke that makes the joker feel that she belongs with a group of similar conformists who are fishing for "epic lulz".

The cherry on top is that the joke is indeed ironically amusing to the learned observer, in that the maker of the joke is caught predicating his humor on his submission to the will of people he perceives to be his superior, among the in-group, which in this case happens to be people who still use 4chan in 2016.
