Why is ninja-looting illegal. I am Rogue and I steal things.

I am not sure this is actually covered in the Pnp, so it may not be. Theft is however generally frowned upon by the community and society in general as a morally repugnant behavior ^^ I know I wouldn't be pleased about it and would not be inclined to group with you in the future while slandering you, if on blue ^^ On red I'd probably try killing you and die in the process giving you more to gloat about ^^ Were you disciplined by the staff for it?

"Soandso, have you been pickpocketing all the money??? Is that why we haven't been getting any???"

No I didn't get in trouble for this, though I did watch BDA kill Trak and then all wipe and could've easily made off with everything. Muwhahaha, but seriously just wanted a toooof :)

One of my first memories of EQ is hunting gnolls in HighPass on my warrior. I had gotten a Polished Granite Tomahawk at some point early, and when another one dropped for us - I was honestly so concerned that someone in the group was going to ninja it that I looted it to keep it safe so we could roll, and it was deleted because Lore...

Ninja looting was VERY real in 1999, and having items poof if you double looted a lore item was VERY real in 1999.

That's one of the truly amazing things about the emergent social environment in Everquest.

Even if something isn't explicitly forbidden by official Server policy, the community organically creates disincentives to acting in a way that disadvantages other players putting in equal work.

Yaay Sociology FTW.

Let the rogues pick pocket. let the group boot them for getting caught multiple times while noticing the mobs not dropping non-magical items or coin.

Roleplay kick of course.

What about the tinfoil situations where the rogue isn't pickpocketing and there aren't any gems etc dropping? Tough luck, get out?

Ninjaloot is classic, as soon as a corpse was unlocked on live in classic it was considered fair game for anyone to loot.

Training however, was usually always enforced by staff if proof was submitted. There wasn't really ever a time where players were allowed to willingly train and grief players without consequence.
