I have now been dating a new girl for over a month and we got to talking about the future. She says she wants to be a "home maker", I was like, "WTF". So I go out and work all day, while you sit around and do small chores that I could do on the weekend? Do those even exist anymore?

I remember back in the 60-70's when the men had good paying jobs with pensions and full benefits and 4 kids with a manual washer and it made sense. But are you telling me in this day where I have no pension, small benefits and a $17/hr job, that you want to sit around and "do stuff around the house" all day while we struggle financially our entire lives?

My brothers, I implore you. Do not let women take us back to the bad old days of lazy bitches a la Peg Bundy. If they refuse to work and you can't break up with them due to the need to drain your balls on a regular basis, at a minimum make sure they understand that this means you will make the important decisions and control the finances. Marriage is about communication my friend. As in, communicate your expectations for each other. She will have an expectation that you provide for her financially, and you will have an expectation that she will have your meal prepared, the house will be cleaned, she will take care of business sexually and she will get herself to the gym REGULARLY. You can throw in some additional rules as you see fit.

If she can't handle those expectations (in exchange for not having to work), then she needs to let you know before you get married. If you can't handle forcing her to stick to those rules, don't get married.

If you don't have a job that makes what is considered god money by todays stanereds your wife staying home with the kids is economic. The price of day care is outragus and they don't do mush other then keep the kids alive while you're both working to pay the day care bill.
I have three kids now and my wife is a house wife but in no way do I consider her unemployed. My 4 and 2 year old daughters are very smart kids and my 3 month old son seems to be very alert (a sighn of intelligence at that age). My house is always clean, my frig is always full and my 4 year old daughter can read and write as well as knowing basic addition and subtraction due to my wife working with her every day while my 2 year old daughter already knows shapes and colors.
My wife was a nurse she was making good money and has a care take personality she loved her job but I can afford her to stay home so we talked and she gave it up for my children. There's a lot to be said for a woman who will do what she has done.

Since she and her husband were employed, their income put them just over the limit where they couldnt get any discounts or w/e for daycare, so basically they had to pay full price aka out the ass for shitty service.

Also to the people that say "staying home is hard", you can gtfo. I went to visit and help my friend yesterday who is a contractor. He needed some help putting in new windows in his house. Anyways, his wife never finished H.S, never worked for more than 3 months in her life and needless to say, she is now a stay at home mom. Since is was there most of the day, I could tally her hours of actual work, they came out to be around about an hour out of the 8hrs I was there. She made us lunch, but it was only a sandwich that I could have made in about 5mins. Most of the time she watched t.v while the baby slept. It woke up twice, but then went to sleep after about 10mins. So that was pretty much it for the "being a mother is the hardest job in the world". I even asked my friend why isnt she doing laundry or vacuuming the house? He told me, "she only needs to do that like once or twice a week"

Take a trip whenever we want, buy a lot of stuff that single income homes can't, keeps us busy(sometimes women that stay at home think of dumb shit when u get home, then bust u on it when u get in the door). If we ever have kids we will end up putting them in daycare(a good one).
