Pay for EQEmu servers, and the salaries of all the staff, so they could quit all their jobs and work on P99 non-stop.
Buy a large sack of cocain and extacy and just go spend lavishly.
Pay people to do outrageously dumb things, another favorite pass-time of the rich.

I'd probably buy a house and furniture for the house, like a nice chesterfield or ottoman.
Though maybe I'd be interested in buying a nice reliant automobile.
Maybe instead I'd buy you a fur coat, but not a real one... I'm not cruel like some OTHER people.
Why not get the animal instead? I could buy you an exotic pet like a llama or an emu...
In all seriousness I'd probably just bank it. Then I'd go steal more.

Spend 100k to pay off my student loans and invest the rest.
Sleep well knowing that my monthly income is now effectively doubled because I don't have any more payments.
Retire in about 10-15 years and stay at my current job because there is such little effort involved.
Pick a different country to visit for each vacation with my wife as opposed to (let's just going camping this year to save money).

Biggest mistake of my life.
That would probably do it.
I'm fortunate to have my entire undergrad covered (For 5 years, dammit), and then some.
Grad school, ahoy!

If you banked the whole million how much would you get in interest per year? My answer would be dependent upon this.

Option 1: Buy a Brewery
Not because I want anyone to be an alcoholic, I just want a better place than my garage for all my brewing equipment.

....I'd be rich.
Ok, not really, 1 million is hardly enough to survive on, however it's a good nest egg to start with. you should be able to clear $50,000 in interest (before taxes) in very safe modest investments, but when you don't have a job, that goes quick.
Heck if I hit the big lottery jackpot, (10 mill+ net) I'd still work for about 6 months while I got the windfall working for me. very little would actually be spent.

Define "banked". Throw it all into a checking account and the money is not going to do much.
If you are going to invest the money chances are it's not going to a bank.
With IRAs in:
Emerging markets ( like China and Brazil),
(nonrenewable) natural resources,
Alternative energy stocks.
You can pull 20% profit in a little over a year without much effort.

The same thing I do with my money currently. CRT for the bulk of it to avoid capital gains tax (Franklin Templeton, is an okay one, I've also dealt with TIAA CREF) and do something with the money once I'm gone that is worthwhile (American Cancer Society is my chosen charity for example), then depending on success rate of the brokerage accounts held within that investment move the interest money to treasury bills to maturity and gift however much to relatives I can to reduce my actual taxes, and cycle the money back into the CRT investments to do all over again the next year.
The truth is, a million USD isn't much money. I had nearly that a few years ago between my two CRT alone, and only a few unfortunate events in my life dropped me sub $400k in a matter of months. You could take a million, and then an additional loan to go with it and probably do something decent in life, but when it comes down to reality -- it probably won't last someone without experience in such affairs longer than 6-8 years.

Assuming I won this from Mcdonalds monopoly, I'd pay for liposuction.
Assuming I didn't, I'd do two chicks at the same time, because I'd still be cute enough to do it.
I'd throw a few G's P99's way, and some at the cancer treatment centers of America so I felt good about my decisions.
I would buy a bomb ass ride, and still live with my parents through college (like i do now) and invest everything so I can hopefully have something to turn to after college is good to go and done.

What I mean is something that would be low-risk but guaranteed interest. What the options would be I do not know but if I was able to yield about $60-70k per annum I'd be living in relative luxury. So my question to you would be what are the options you'd have in order to generate that kind of money annually?

Once you had your $60 - $70k salary, then you'd realize you had more needs than your income affords.
When I was making less than $10k a year, I always thought $15k a year would be awesome, I'd have no more needs When I was making only $20k a year, I knew $25k and I'd be set. etc. etc. etc. It's in our nature to want more than we have.

I could live just fine on 70k a year. I live pretty well on 50k right now.
I think you (excluding those in SoCal and NYC) needs to look at your spending habits if that's not enough.

I could live off a million for a number of years living in Virginia.
Probably less in North Carolina or Kentucky.

part of the appeal of receiving a large lump of cash is that you wouldn't have to live in fucking virginia

Chances are you are much too young to be dealing with low-risk investments. You have to take a little risk or else you are going to basically be seeing $0.03 interest every month and well.... that might as well be zero.
You take something that's slight risk and you invest for the long term but obviously something that also makes sense for the future. You should be coming out ahead even with dips in the economy. It happened to me. That 19% profit i made was with an IRA I purchased BEFORE the economy tanked. Had the economy not tanked I would have actually done better.
Of course I only made roughly $1000 but if I had a million dollars invested that would have actually been a $190K profit.
