View Full Version : damage hardcap 40%

on the sony live servers.. there was always a 40% of target's max hp, on players in pvp. to prevent wizards from 1 shotting, or even 2 shotting people.... why is this not implemented here? i understand that the damage is reduced by 30% but that 70% of base damage could still do 100% of my hp, if i was at full hp, unbuffed... where as the live system.. only 40% of my max hp... to prevent casters from being too overpowered and givng the target at least some chance to flee or defend themselves.

what gave it away? that i didn't just roll over and accept it and roll a wizard too? but that i called it like i saw it and offered the solution that sony felt was at least partially fair?

No it wasn't there during velious, if it was then manaburn/lifeburn would have never oneshot people...which it did for a couple years.

You're mistaken and you should learn that this server is trying to stick to a classic timeline (meaning if it wasn't here in kunark it's not here now, and if it was never there in velious it will never be there in velious).

Not classic. This happened because people were bitching about getting Manaburned or Death Touched during Planes of Power

what a baby , draughts do 400 here instead of 700 in pvp and he wants more partials

why not make yourself immune to spells completely so you can kill all casters?

This was definitely not there during velious. My favorite memory is me on Ashrael zoning into an AD raid from EW, they were killing tormax at EW/KD zone line. I manaburned one of their twinks that had a COF and looting it and gating before anybody even knew i was there.

The maximum damage any one spell can do is now capped at 40% of the target's total hit points, down from 75%.http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20040811.html

that patch note says the cap was changed in 2004. from 75% to 40. i wonder when the 75 cap was added in. either way, doesn't seem classic at all.

Direct Damage spells in Player vs. Player combat can only do up to 75% damage of the target's maximum hit points in a single hit. This modification is done before resists are taken into account. For example, if a player has 1000 hit points when fully healed, no single direct damage spell will do more than 750 damage to him in a single hit.http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20030408.html

You're wrong. Played sz from release til end of pop, damage cap was not in and SKs / wizards were free to one shot all day long.

80 % was added to DT/Manaburn/lifeburn and was added in planes of power waaay in. then they had made it 40 % later on.
