Isn't it amazing what we do with our foods genetics? I am not going to quote Al Gore in RnF but he shares a great deal of information on this topic throughout his keynote speeches and published works.

Bananachat! I think I read about this - the now extinct king of the banana market was a lot sweeter and creamier than what we buy today. Like dessert replacement quality. If our current variety follows the same path, we'll be dealing with a tart/sour variety in the future.
