Burning Crusade heroics were great! After that it steadily became too easy. Becoming easy isn't too bad though, the bad part is that it bred a whole generation of MMO players who will only accept "easy."

Anyone who calls it easy has probably hasn't done a hardmode 10-man lately. There's no comparison between an endgame wow boss fight and a VP dragon that dies in 15 seconds. EQers mistake the long drawn out aspects of this game with being "hard".

WoW was difficult. Certain things. It depended on your server. But the grind to rank14 in classic was absolutely brutal. Then the raid mechanics, far more engaging than any eq fight through velious. Why am i even having this argument again, blind eq fanboys will believe what they want

Yeah, I've posted on this matter a billion times, but it boils down to different definitions of difficulty. WoW's difficulty was at top-end, the leveling was really easy especially if you avoided dungeons. Whereas, EQ's difficulty was the inverse. EQ's was more difficult to level (unless you avoided dungeons), but the top-end (raiding) was a complete joke.

EQ is a very punishing game, but once you reach a certain level of competency, you rarely get punished. It is also a game which heavily favors time played over all else. A poor player who plays 12 hours a day is far more valuable than a good player who plays 3 hours a day.

I've always thought the comparison was pretty unfair since you should compare games to what they were at the same point in time (ie EQ in 2004 to WoW in 2004).

If are using Vanilla, Ruins of Kunark, or Scars of Velious as your difficulty base of comparison, even mundane household tasks will end up being far more difficult than EQ in its infancy. EQ has had its fair share of genuinely difficult content: LDoN raids, GoD from Uqua onward, OMM, etc. It just took the developers some time to figure out how to make raid content.
