The Wendy's fish sandwich was probably my favorite I've had from a FF joint, but it seems like every time I go there and try to order it, they don't have it on the menu. The fuck, Wendy's?
The Arby's fish sandwich is better than I expected it to be. Didn't really look like it does in the commercial (does it ever?), but it was still pretty good. I liked the fact that the fish hangs over the side of the bun. That's what a fish sandwich should do!
I used to HATE the weird, square-shaped, american "cheese" laden McDonald's Filet-o-Fish, and then all of the sudden one day, I craved it. I haven't had one in like 5 years, but just thinking about it makes me want it. Even though it sucks.
I had a burger king BK Fish once from a rest stop in New Jersey. It was okay tasting. Unfortunately, it gave me horrible horrible food poisoning. I was out of commission for 3 days. I never knew it was possible to throw up so many times!! Throwing up nothing but stomach bile is pretty awful, not to mention painful.
I've never had a fish sandwich at any of these: Dairy Queen, Jack in the Box, White Castle, Sonic, Long John Silver's (you gotta convince me not to order the Super Sampler at LJS)
Am I missing any?

I'll eat the Mcdonald's fish sandwich about once every 5 years and not feel too bad about the decision.

Arby's crushes all of these that I've tried and it is not even slightly close.
I've never had a white castle fish sandwhich or a jack-in-the-box fish sandwhich.

Holy fuck's sake I forgot how good that fishsammie is....I voted for DQ because DQ turns out some quality burgers, fish, chicken strips....they give you a little bucket of fucking GRAVY to dip chicken strips in.
But yeah, change my vote to Culver's. Makes me want to go pick up one of those, plus a Bacon Cheddarburger Double with cheese curds

Long John Silver's: Probably the best of anywhere I've ever been that's on the list. The only nearby locations are tough to get to though. The spiciness is a major plus for this New Orleans guy; others are just too bland. If there's no heat in your seafood, then you're just phoning it in, imo.
Wendy's: Their "Alaskan" fish sandwich was pretty good. The normal one? Still better than BK or McD, but not a good catch.
Burger King vs McDonald's: Of the "big two," BK is superior. Still, they're fairly average.
Sonic: No different than BK or McD, really, and I never liked the style of Sonic. And for some reason, most times I go to Sonic, they're out of whatever it was I went there for.
Arby's: Extremely disappointing, as most Arby's food is. I only go to Arby's for mocha shakes. I get the feeling that fish isn't foremost in their minds. For food, they should stick to what they're good at: beef, and that's it. They're only even passable at that.
Dairy Queen: A lot like Arby's. I really don't think DQ cares much about their food, other than the ice cream.
Jack-in-the-Box and White Castle: I've heard legends of these places, but we don't allow them down here, and I've never been to them when traveling.
Not on the list (that I know about):
If what I really want is fast food seafood, then I almost always opt for Popeye's. There is no beating this.
Rally's/Checker's: Just as good as BK/McD, but better priced.
Carl's Jr: We don't have them here, but I sampled some when in Cali. Almost as good as Popeye's.

Arby's beef and cheddars on that onion roll are friggin awesome - remember 5 for 5? Holy shit I could eat a lot when I was a kid...
Also try their actual brisket sandwich they have now its positively delightful. The curly fries are the best fast food fry hands down. I just don't understand why so many hate on the 'bees.

You're all fat and spoiled in the US.
I'm going to cry into the McDonalds I'm forced to eat here because we don't have any decent food.
Terrible poll, there is no fast food "fish" even vaguely worthy of the word "best".

Well, there comes a time in every man's life when he must face his fears head-on and perform incredible acts of courage.
Today is one of those days. I just ordered the "Big Fish Sandwich" from Burger King.
When I get home, I will photograph, consume, and report on my experience.
I am fearful because the last time I had a fish sandwich from Burger King (back then it was called the "BK Fish") I ended up throwing up bile for 3 days.
More to come from this seafood adventure soon...

The Burger King "Big Fish Sandwich"
We'll start with 10 points, assuming this will be the best fish sandwich I've ever eaten.
Initial impressions: First of all, this isn't a "big" fish sandwich. It's pretty small, actually. A fish sandwich should have a fish plank that hangs over either side of the bun. Minus 1 point for false advertising. Also, the fish is a square. A square. This kind of geometry is okay for a Wendy's hamburger, because I mean come on, it's ground beef. You could make a hamburger a triangle or a star (or even a rhombus) and that's okay because ground beef is pliable and generally weird. Why is this fish a square? Minus another point. Also, is that a PICKLE I see in this sandwich? Minus 1 more point for the likelihood that they put pickles in this.
First bite: Yep, that's a pickle. Minus 2 more points.
Second bite: OK I appear to have gotten most of the biggest pickle chunk out of the way with that first bite. Pickle to fish ratio was way off in that first bite. Minus an additional point because this whole pickle thing is really frustrating me. Why are there ANY pickles on this sandwich? Don't get me wrong... I love pickles in the right environment. This is not the right environment. I might actually write a letter to Burger King about this.
Remaining bites: These pickles are ruining this fish sandwich. At least there isn't any cheese on it (+1 point)
Overall: 5 out of 10
If I throw up, I'm taking away the rest of the points. I'll update the thread in a few days.

I can't believe McDonald's is winning this poll. The Filet-o-fish comes with cheese, for fuck's sake. Any semi-respectable fish sandwich would never have a disgusting square of processed american cheese on it.
That said, I vote for Wendy's. I haven't tried most of the others in the poll but Wendy's fish sandwich wasn't bad.
I miss the fast food from my home state. Zip's and Ivar's are soooo good. A couple years ago my best friend from back home sent me a "present" in the mail for Christmas. When I opened it, it had empty food wrappers from Zip's as a joke. I wanted to cry. It smelled awesome. Lol, I plan on getting him back one of these days...

Ew, Long John Silver in 2nd place? All their damn food tastes the same. Order fish and fries, take a bite of a fry and it tastes just like the fish! It's horrible.

On paper, the McDonald's Filet-O-Fish sounds totally gross, but strangely enough when it comes to consumption there's just something about it. They nailed the tartar sauce. The cheese is oddly enticing. I didn't want to like it - I hate that fucking commercial - but somehow, some way, it just works. Sometimes I just gotta get that unnaturally square fillet of "fish".
Burger King's cheap imitation of this on the other hand looks absolutely horrible. But shit I mean, you can pretty much take anything off of Long John Silver's invariably deep-fried menu and I'll happily devour it without giving second thought to the feeling of complete self-abnegating disgust and the ensuing grease-propelled shitrockets I'm guaranteed to experience afterwards.
But at the end of the day I just have to go with Wendy's. I've been through a lot with Wendy. We go way back. Even if I don't particularly crave a Wendy's fillet as much as I would the aforementioned progenitors of unseemly and preternaturally shaped fish, I know that with Wendy's I'll probably feel better about myself after it's all said and done.
