The gamma range and how it is handled varies.
I have one laptop that its AOK on, my desktop is so dark even during the norrath day its not really playable.

Oddly, I play in a window and the gamma doesn't change. I don't want to play windowed, you understand, but there's a crash bug when I try to go to full-screen... (just about to report it once I capture the exact message)
