Hi guys - this isnt so much a thread about where to solo as an enchanter but.. how to efficiently do it.
My problem when I'm soloing stems from a couple of things but one of which is me wanting to get chain pulls - I know that aint right for soloing.. or is it? i dont freeking know... So I have some questions.
#1. Is it better to continue with the charm 1v1 when they are both low root/breakcharm/killpet/killtarget - med up?
#2. Charm 1v2 - mez/root the 2 targets - kill pet - charm another, try to keep 1v2 (this one is more difficult because you have 3 potential aggro mobs it is no easy)?
#3. Charm 1 - Haste - attack 1 at a time, debuffing the target and keeping my pet alive and just shrugging off the pet XP penalty?
I want to do #3 - because I find it is more mana efficient and relaxing that #1 and especially #2. But I dont know if the penalty is bad enough that I should avoid doing this and I should do style #1 or #2 instead?
What do ye say? Thanks!

I always did #1 while leveling but it may have been because #2 wasn't exactly a thing I had thought of. You lose 1/2 the xp per kill from #3 and rather than killing both your pet and the enemy you just kill the enemy, still with buffs and stuff it might be faster if you could continually chain enemies, but a single battle with #3 is theoretically 1/4 the xp of #1 unless you break your pet and recharm after killing, which would make it take almost as much mana as #1 anyway.

Pretty sure you want to charm a pet, weaponize it, haste it, lvl4 mez it and root it. Get a new pet, have it fight your beast pet. Break new pet and kill. Keep beastmode mob rooted. It will blender your pets and you can keep him rooted the whole time. If you have mana issues lvl4 mez and let him reset.
Can usually get like 4-5 mobs killed before you need to mez and let your weaponized beast mob regen to full. Then repeat. Just keep him tashed and rooted the whole time.

Thanks Yumyies - Hey I got a question about weapons on that note.. I heard that if you give your pet a 2h wep then a torch and then a second 2h wep, he owuld be infact duel wielding 2 2h weps, is this true?
Do weapons really make the pet stronger? like if you gave it 2 lamentations would it do more damage than if you gave it 2 fine steel 2h swords (presuming the torch trick worked) or 2 fine steel 1h swords?
I haven't fond a definitive guide to pet weapons - if there is one and someone knows it could they either link it or give me something other than "pet weapons" as phrases to search for?
And finally if you give your pet armor, does it become stronger? Can you increase its AC by giving it a set of fine steel?
thanks!

EXP intake is increased with each mob you have rooted within melee range of your pet. 2 weaponized pet blenders are better than one!

Pets don't dual wield 2h on this server. I haven't tried your torch thing but... 2handers just make your pet do double the DMG listed on the 2h. Excluding Weighted Axe, most 2h cap around 30, which would be 60-70 DMG. At level 50, all most innately hit for more than that. Meaning DW of 2h would be useless. Infact most all weapons are useless when given to pets. There are only 2 goals for pet weapons:
1. Getting the mob to dual wield. This is the biggest one. Having it DW instead of single arming can nearly double the DPS output of a mob. Especially when coupled with haste.
2. Procs. Generally damage procs aren't worth it. People opt for more utility stuff. Snare, Root, Stun, Tashan.
Torch is an option cause it makes them swing with both fists, is cheap, and occupies only 1 bag slot.
Gnoll Hide Lariats are good because they will stun your mob and this will decrease the amount of damage your pet takes less damage.
Blade of the Earthcaller are good cause they proc root on your pet, are cheap and common in Droga. Great weapon for your blender pet cause there is a chance when you break your fodder pets the blender already rooted him for you.
Journeyman's Walking Stick is a good one, less so for a chanter though. It's a bit more expensive but only 300-400, which is solid if you are going to be camping somewhere for a long duration. Having it tash your pet is handy but again more a necro thing.
Deadwood Staves are like a 25 point lifetap proc which is useful for maintaining health on a pet. Common drop in Kaesora so they are cheap.
Fine Steel Weapons are good just because they are weapons of opportunity in that they drop from the mobs you're killing so you never have to go buy more you can just loot them and feed them to your pet.
There are a few snare weapons out there too but in dungeons, before the snare stacking fix in Velious they aren't worth mentioning IMO.
AC does work on pets but the effect is so negligible, IMO, that it isn't worth carrying around banded armor for.
Speed of double weaponized blenders does not warrant risk of root breaks, especially since the resist changes of late.

#3 is the best. Give your pet an ironic name, like if it's a brownie call him Big Mitch. Shout in the zone how Big Mitch is going to steamroll everyone's mobs, there's nothing you can do about it, he's a loose cannon.
Give him 2 Ykeshas, have him hasted and just sick him on anything that moves. Big Mitch runs deep and he runs nasty. Murder everything. Fuck exp penalty, Big Mitch gonna get you 2 orange bubs in no time.
And then when you're done? Let him go. Big Mitch gonna fuck up the next group that comes in.

I do like the reverse charm so far. It feels like I'm lifting mobs up over my shoulders like Andre the Giant and throwing them onto some kind of buzz saw covered device, that I will now call a Big Mitch.

Reverse charming is pretty heavy on mana for an enchanter. Works well for a bard but difficult to sustain on an enc.

I feel dumb for having never tried this :(
Having said that, I prefer to duo on my ench. A shaman for malo / heals / slows is amazing, right yums? You bastard.

It works for PLing too. I took Tecmos to OT with a level 30ish (twinked) shaman buddy and charmed one of the level 50 mobs in the outpost, ran it out into the middle of OT, charmed, hasted, broke charm, rooted, then used beguile (or VP clicky) to charm mobs and feed them against the ex-pet. He'd beat them down to 10% in a matter of seconds, then I'd invis ring to break charm and go charm another to repeat while my buddy chased the now-fleeing mob around and beat it down with his GFG.

I've been trimming the xp gains from 52. Only during smooth pulling and pausing during any CR or anything - however letting the timer run during med breaks.
In 52 6 man KC basement after 6 hours I averaged 6% per hour.
At 52 duo in CoM it was 12% per hour and trio it was 13.5%
At 54 everything was just reduced by 50% so for duo it was 6% although the 6 man in Seb netted 5% per hour.
3 days to get 50% through level 54 all on work nights!! Not bad!! :)
*edit - PS I have not had the opportunity to time XP for solo for an hour because I have too many friends. yay me! ;)

When was that changed? I always thought you could do that.
I know you're asking for solo options, but if you can find a cleric friend to duo with in HS North, it's easily the best exp til 59. Grab a skele pet so you can stun/mez/retash/ToT/boltrans on breaks. With haste, torch, and a cleric CH, you can do 75% of the wing easily. Avoid big boss room til 57+ unless you're just out of mobs.
For soloing in North, I would always go 1v1 (pet vs. Mob), break when low and kill both, unless I pulled more than one. In that case, sick pet on one, mez other, slow both and your pet should be able to get both slowed mobs to <10% before it gets really low. Can break and kill all three for full xp.

Is North Wing the easiest?
Easiest to hardest:
North < West < South < East
I really dislike West, personally. It's cramped and has some pretty shitty loot. I stayed at North til 58/59, then moved to south in duo or trios. South can be very, very tough. I've found it easier to grab a pet from west (123 hitters) as they break less and can be charmed with Boltrans. The hardest part of south is the initial break-in if you go this route though. The group of four behind portrait plus two possible roamed adds can get problematic if you get a lull resist or something. The loot makes it well worth it though.

Thanks kruptcy - would you also give it a weapon or just give it one or two torches and let them go crazy (assuming the weapon would be a pos rusty weapon).

1 torch is the go to, because weapons dont usualy increase dps of a pet unless the weapon damage is higher than the pets native damage. Where you can find the pets native damage # i do not know, however in general i think its pretty high.
1 torch will be enough to make them Duel Wield.. Torch only goes into the secondary slot, so even if htey have 1 torch, it will ready the secondary slot. The reason torches, is cus you can buy them at a vendor & they are pretty light, so a bag of them is better than a bag of weapons & weapons dont auto go to the secondary slot, so it takes 2 weps vs 1 torch to make a pet DW.
so all you need is 1 torch and your pet can be considered weaponised...
Although one of these (http://wiki.project1999.com/Staff_of_Writhing) & one of these (http://wiki.project1999.com/Short_Sword_of_the_Ykesha) will you laid more often.

level 9!! ok dude! In that case, 2h weps WILL increase pet damage that low! up until like 30 I was giving 2h weps to my pets!
I believe if you put a torch & a 2h wep, then a SECOND 2h wep (it puts it on over the torch) you get Double 2h wep pet! the second 2h wep is not visible (the torch remains in the pets hand) however the second 2h wep is actually equiped under the hood.
Can someone tell me for a fact that this is not true? or if it is? I parsed substantial increase in damage when I did this and by substantial I mean big time!
