Just spent about 7 hours on red. I had a few PvP encounters :
-1) Twink
-2) HARDCORE twink with druid 60 supporting him
-3) twink pulling enchanter's pet to guards
-4) Full group ganking with 60 cleric supporting them
Also only many people do not respect scout and loot.
So all in all group xp is good, I may try again but more for the "fresh server" feeling than for the "red" server feeling. It is cool to see people wanting to just group up people for the bonus and dont "optimise" group duo or trio like on Bleu. Its nice to have also less crowded zones and being able to pick a place without checking every 10 minutes if its camped. On the other hand the PvP part is very lame so far and feels more like an annoyance than like an exitement.

seeing as how not following loot and scoot is bannable, i dont think this is accurate.

I will petition next time than. I was killed 5 times on a CR after called scout and loot by the same group of people.
I even used /tell while they attacked me and with no success.
By the way, maybe I'm wrong about the community's intention but beyond twinking (that at least requires the use of ressources) PvP-PLing people with high level group buffs and heals ruins the balance way more than the +/-4 level limit. Being unable to help (in non heal/buff way) a groupmate being ganked by a too high / too low ennemy for you but supported by a 60 druid is just ridiculous.
If you want people to like playing on red so maybe your raid geared 60 clerics have something else to do than healing ganker twinks.

Sigh, why is any post about Red server ends up flooded under "Grow a pair" trolls?
Because they are the ones with the twinks and 60 druids following them.
I had the same issues with the server when I started out, and after a few /ooc rants and angry tells /shout matches I learned to accept it for what it is and move on.
Now 51, still get ganked, and have actually become somewhat friendly with some of my gankers.
Point is: everyone is out to have fun, yes the twinking is a fuck around but it's part of the game --- it's like a level 30 KOS mob wandering around the newb starting areas --- you're gunna get pole axed from time to time but you gather yourself up and move on up!

Not that anyone expects a red player to actually read their own server rules or anything.
Edit - This one's a winner too. Especially if you keep an eye on posted evidence.
" Causing Experience Loss.
Intentionally causing experience-loss to other players in the PvP environment is illegal in all cases and may result in disciplinary action when witnessed by a P99CSR. This includes things such as intentionally training NPCs. We do understand that there are cases where the experience-loss is unintentional, and no disciplinary action will be taken in those cases.
Much like how the Kill Stealing rule applies to those on the blue servers, this rule is designed to discourage and make note of those who do it habitually, thus betraying the spirit of PvP. As a note, the P99CSR will not in any case provide a resurrection for someone who was caused experience loss in PvP, intentionally or otherwise. This is one of the dangers of playing on a PvP server. Seriously? Its ok to grief if I dont type properly? Its ok to keep slashing people down when they /tell "Stop killing me I am just looting my corpse"?
You know what? I was just wrong to even try. Wrong to try Red, wrong to try to talk about it on the forum.

People who have a tendency to get upset about the most trivial issues are typically not the people that enjoy the red server. Different strokes for different folks. You seem a bit dramatic though, which is quite the thing on Red... but it's like you care too much. That won't do you any good over there.
Thanks for trying, and safe travels friend.

I play EQ since day one and almost never really stoped. EQ players are and always were complaining and ranting on forums. Most people nowdays inded just shut the fuck up and leave because the MMO market todays allows to you so whatever you want when you want. But let me explain.
I was caught in the whole "lets try red" thing. It felt like both the devs and the red community were trying to make the server enjoyable for everyone. So I did try.
After a few hours I noticed that :
1) The twink/PL issue is really a plague and actually was 100% of the PvP encounters I had (personnal experience)
2) The whole supposely bannable but not hardcoded PNP rules hardly applies (or didnt to me)
You use a forum to share an experience, ask a question or give an information. It is what I did.
I end up with 2 pages filled with :
- You are a troll/liar
- You do not own testicles
- Just go away
(and a couple of actually interesting things from Farzo and Pudge)
So my conclusion is that the Red server community is indeed filled with griefer who doesnt give a crap about the server pop ever going over a couple of hundred.

You took the wrong actions after dying the first time. Did you call "LNS" in ooc? If not then no rules were broken. Perhaps we need a quick run down of the rules for new red players?
Death from players will happen on a pvp server, its not for everyone.

Death from players will happen on a pvp server, its not for everyone.
Of course it will. It is actually quite rare tho. The vast majority of people I came accross were just minding their own busines and friendly grouping around. The problem is that 100% of PvPers were griefers, lamers, trainers, abusing game mechanics to cause xp death... and twink or supported by 60 characters, or both.
But yeah, terrible luck maybe.

Just to add my 2cp, I think we were just unlucky, I have been playing red now for a month or so and i have various teen / low 20s chars and I have not suffered the way you did.
When I see folks in my range I prepare to fight, if they are friendly I won't start, that's just me, live and let live but I certainly stand my ground !
I actually understand the twink griefers and except that as part and parcel, I have been killed by some of the famous griefers and I will be actively seeking some of them out shortly just for the satisfaction of giving it a shot, MrBigs I am coming to Unrest for you soon !
I didn't get it at first and would get mad, then I saw the light, everyone needs a bad guy, Red server has it fair share but it's a game, play it like one is my advise.
If you are getting griefed again, /OOC it, you will find some kindly high levels may pop over and slay the offending OOR healer etc..
Seriously miffed Red is down, don't even want to play Blue... seems to be no point.

^ just a small selection of the "Really enjoying Red!" threads we've seen, so I would imagine your experience isn't typical for new players since the changes went in. On the other hand, it seems like you saw a lot of action for a level 6, so maybe you're just a PvP magnet.

Oh. Yeah it was a shame when it happened but I would chalk it up to group v. group mentality and not some "everyone on red is retarded". This is the internet after all and I'm more than certain some blue asshole would have done the same if given the chance.
Besides, you can just have a necro cast ignite bones on you and go buy yourself a hole key anyways.
Come with an open mind and fantasize about killing those key-destroying assholes.

The point is that someone decided to go out of his way and do something positive for the community, and the first chance they get the red community griefs us. I'm not so ignorant as to say it was the entire community, but there was a lot of reds applauding this action like it wasn't immature and just a douche move. You are right in saying that eventually some blue ass hole would do the same thing, just surprised in that red got to it in like, what, two hours.

Just don't play on it. Let them have their low pop server where their twinked low levels with 60 healers can fight other twinked low levels with 60 healers. Red is just a low brow filter for blue.

Theres alot of assholes on reds, it was worse 2 years ago.
I would love for people to do a twink guild to protect the lowbie zones, were not all out to grief new blood off the server.

If you were to replace red with another blue server you would find similar people looking to shit up the other guys fun.
It comes down to being a part of a different group more than anything. Trust me, I've now played with both and aside from a fundamentally different view on how eq should be played, the attitudes are mostly the same.

Holy crap i remember this, and i havnt been playing constantly, this happened maybe a year ago. Some guy was nice enough to have a toon with key and gave out the account info for players to use to go to the Hole. Then some A-hole logged into the accout and deleted the key, the kind of thing that only the lowest of the lowest scum do to get their jollies off.

I am glad you got to enjoy red for what it is, there is a trade off on red. On red, there is options, were as on blue there wasn't many. If someone is camping something your screwed, unless you can out dps them. If your not in a certain guild end game you won't see end game, even if you are your competing with 100's of other people for gear.
Dealing with twinks/oor healers is just a small price to pay, for having so much freedom.
(no xp on death anymore, so...could be worse)
