View Full Version : Unhappy TMO players, big daddy Zeelot coming home for Velious!

Prismaticshop

So,

Gossips say that big Daddy Zeelot is coming back to lead a new guild comes velious. He still isn't over Snack's and Mazam's coup to take over the remains of The collapsed order and wants to personally give the final death blow to this dying corpse.

Now that jeremy is on a hiatus from daily fapping to his 11 level 60s (look mum I'm on the internet!!) and also gone from TMO's leadership, the guild is weaker than ever.

Now the time has come to chose dear unhappy TMO members, what will you do?

"Coup" implies that power was seized. That did not happen; the reins were peacefully passed.

I wouldn't say peacefully passed.

The guild was dissolved fully for a day or two, was it not?

Not a coup, but a Phoenix-style rebirth. Similar to what happened to Club Fu on PC when Poutie (sp?) quit.

Emotions ran high, and Zeelot's intentions with the disbanding were certainly not well-understood by most (he ultimately did it as a form of protest), but at the end of the day the new leadership took its position with the ultimate blessing of the previous.

Zeelot has, and always will have, a place for him in TMO.

Club Fu was on BB, and Poutie got pissed off because RoV lead a recruit session on their officers that worked with great success. The guild kind of dissolved before he had a chance to drive it into the ground even more before everyone felt bad for blowing off their fearless leader and re-couped it in his name after they realized CoL was dead and RoV didn't give them special treatment.

If they don't have all that bag limit stuff and Rogean quits the staff, then maybe I'd play on p99 again some day & create an awesome new guild.

I left with a great raiding record though, flawless Hoshkar / Nexona wins, 105+ PD kills & 1 loss (nicely played Sloan <3). I've effectively beat the game for the second time around since we did it on fennin ro 10 yrs ago, so motivation to return is non-existent! Especially if velious isn't going to be free for all raiding. Have done all that stuff 100s of times anyways + server firsted majority of those targets when strats weren't public info.

I'm preferring PvP games these days since things got too kiddy for me, I need to shake off the scars left from the p99 carebear revolution. Games that have FFA pvp with full corpse loot = the only way for me now.

Not a troll, just a curious question: didn't it ever get boring continuously winning those targets?

And what's different for velious? You say you've had those kills 100's of times, implying they're boring, but.. 105 PD kills wasn't?

Good record, though. Should start up a new guild on red. I'm sure they'd love some more serious competition.

Zeelot

Yea it sometimes got boring, but certain competitive raids gave an adrenaline rush - that's what kept me interested. Nothing's different for velious - the encounters don't change all that much in terms of mechanics. The AE's do less and the mobs have more hp + rampage/flurry. For me it was just one of those 'it's time to move on' moments.

There's a lot of potentially great MMOs on the horizon and I'm starting my legal career. I played EQ from 1999-2007 & p99 from 2010-2013. That's a lot of EQ :P Definitely time to move on.

Not to mention MMO communities should be governed by the players, not the devs & GMs. P99 is the only game I know of that player interactions and community structure is so highly regulated by server staff. Some people make the free2play argument (i.e. they are giving the game for free so stfu and abide by their rules), but all the other free2play games allow for the players to shape the community, raidscene, competition, etc. as opposed to GM forced player interactions, rotations etc. P99 GMs may as well be making a timeslot system for exp camps so players can reserve Crypt in seb 6pm on saturday. It would make just as much sense as the current raid situation.

So, the fact that all your other examples have multiple-servers where different community structures can develop, giving players a choice is apparently lost on you.

That's the biggest problem with your little pitty party about GM enforced rules, the uber-raiders are screaming "classic classic classic" when its been shown time and again that the different servers all had different raid scenes that varied in "hardcoreness" or "carebearness". Since creating a second server wasn't an option the raid scene was modified to allow for both playstyles while maintaining a single player base.

Whatever, have fun claiming you won king of the mountain while the other kids were playing tag with no-touch backs.

Zeelot
02-19-2014, 08:26 PM
There were plenty of players on Fennin Ro who wanted a different raid scene as well. On that server, the players who wanted hardcore free for all raiding outnumbered them though, so the community remained very competitive.

I'm sure it went differently on other servers where the community went the other way, but on P1999 the community went one way, the staff didn't like it and declared it to go a different way rather then let the players sort it themselves. I have never played a game where the staff tries to manipulate the community and don't plan on doing so again.

To the guy who says I don't like real-life competitive things, I am running a marathon in the spring and do plenty of cross-country running, used to play rugby as a wing + I play pretty good Violin. Also have a law degree in both USA + Canada. What can you do?

It's been a great run for the guild reliving the classic EQ experience. We dominated yet again just like back on Fennin & it was good times. While EQ is a great game and has given us all so many memories, there's such a thing as too much of a good thing. Some old TMO plan to continue playing classic EQ, but many of us will also be branching out into other games and expanding our horizons. We will be playing Darkfall, EQnext, Landmark, Wildstar, Planetside, and many other games to come.

P.S. There is a group of people playing P1999 servers who go by the name "The Mystical Order" as well. They are not a representation of the Original TMO from Fennin Ro, Nor are they the same TMO that played on P99 from 2010-2013.

They don't exist...

I need to plug my cause a little harder. Nonetheless, we are making progress.

LGuk is polished 100% and publicly available, so no one will ever have to classicize such a zone again. I need more help correcting content in classic zones. In fact, I'm going to make a post to plug my cause for real in a little while here.

Encounter tracker and gif-generator has been polished with some new features.

I am currently in the process of implementing an "era-snapping" system that will allow easy on/off/whatever switches for all era-based content. For example, if someone starting a box wants to begin with the release of the Plane of Hate, they will easily be able to snap their server into that era and manastone/guise/rubicite will be taken out, epics won't be in yet, etc etc - everything will easily be made correct.

I plan to implement other ease-of-administration and make them publicly available to the community. However, making these zones as classic as is reasonably possible is priority number one.
