View Full Version : The Beatles - i want you - first metal song?
All of the verses are blues influenced but the breaks and outro is the first metal picking lick ever created.
I wonder where tony iommy got his sound from?
This song was recorded a year before sabbath's first album
You are welcome RnF

Elrond,
You are a funny, endearing, wholesome, and soft-hearted fellow. However, some or all of the multiple threads you create on a daily basis are irrelevant to our community and organization. Please stop creating threads. This is a warning. Further consequences include I, Katrik, will come to your place of residence and put my huge tranny cock in your already gaping, unclean asshole. I look forward to your responsible and entertaining future threads.
Sincerely,
Katrik

I think documenting the amount of bands that have ripped off this one song would be an impossible task. There's hundreds of examples like The Blood Brothers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlOzO_XyFL0).

Yup, its the truth. It came out years ago that they couldn't even play. If you listen to their first album, you can almost tell because of how simply the melodies are.

Their first commercial album as a group was from what, early 1963? That'd have put them at about ~21 years old or so. I wouldn't expect 'em to be the best ever at that age. Maybe not at any age; large-scale success always does occur as a result of luck as much as skill. The very first song from their first album, "I Saw Her Standing There," particularly seemed to be a bit of a handful for them. I've never heard a live version of it played with the full depth of the studio recording (although the Washington Coliseum version from Feb. '64 was excellent in its own way).
Regardless of their skills as players, their success and continuing influence as a group speaks for itself.

I know Lamb of God songs that are easier to play on guitar than some of the Beatles first album works. Doesn't mean shit besides I listen to metal. Beatles aren't metal and the only reason why I listen to them is so the woman can pretend she's in the fucking 20's with her friends on the weekend.
I have to take up for them though, simplicity does not mean a lack of talent.

Wrong. It came out that they couldn't read music. That's not the same thing. Tons of extremely talented musicians can't read music (in fact, the better musicians tend not to be able to), but they sure as fuck can play.
Robert Johnson, Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Angus Young, Tony iommi, Tom Morello, Adam Jones, Jamess Hetfield, Dave Brubeck, BB King, SRV, Tom Petty, Lindsey Buckingham, Mike Campbell, Tommy Emmanuel -- none of them can/could read music (and that's probably not even a short list).

those two invalidate your argument fully.
Aesthetics wasn't in question.
aesthitics is in question when it's a subjective "taste" that's trying to be argued objectively.

When you're talking about "talent" it ceases to be subjective. You're free not to like whatever, but talent exists concretely.
