What other PVP scenarios can you think of that would only occur in a variance environment?

The current system led to Innoruk severilous Faydadar being killed @ 6 am by 40 people for 5 weeks straight. We can do better than that, and there's 2 years of data to support it.

I have 10-20 Azrael available pretty much all day long who would love nothing more than to engage NPC guarding crews. Getting any of those bosses would be a total bonus. We would be so happy just to have a realistic number of people to engage. Thus why we engaged 17 v 25 for trakanon, some people just want to PVP.

Raze sold Maximilien war epic for 50k , Twainz gave afflict his for a nos and a heiro cloak. I got mine for even cheaper. Paying the nizzar prices is ridiculous, there's plenty of people in Nihilum who sell things for much cheaper, because they are tired of nizzar selling selling loot.
