My friend found it on a shelf at the mall. Said something about they are more complicated to set up now. This true? I want a better phone than my piece of shit.

First you wanna probably reformat/reboot the phone to more or less wipe it clean of any types of security software stuff, then you probably want to take the battery/sim card out and leave it off for a while before you do anything. You are technically in posession of stolen property worth atleast a misdemeanor in new york. As far as "unlocking" it goes I couldn't tell you. I would just find someone to sell it to who does know, though.

Couple of hundred bucks is better than getting arrested for a piece of shitty chinese plastic.

Finders keepers, losers weepers.

Seriously I agree the noble thing to do would be return it. They may even give you some cash if you're lucky. Lets not try to pretend that humans are naturally good though, most people cheat, lie, steal, etc. Its human nature, sadly.

I hate how people are becoming less responsible for themselves, it makes me sick. People who leave 500 dollar pieces of Chinese outsourced shit out on a shelf at the mall deserve to get robbed. Anytime I exit or enter a new room I check my pockets for wallet, cellphone, cash, and my lucky lighter. People should learn to stop being such Fucking zombies all the time and learn to take care of their own shit.

Do all of you go through life expecting people to hold your hand, remind you anytime you drop somethin? Man human race is fucked if majority of people expect to go through life without being responsible for themselves, their belongings, and their actions.

You look at OP as scumbag for stealing, I look at him as admirable for teaching a feeble minded person how the world works.

I never said I condoned being a piece of shit or did I say thievery was a noble thing.
I just believe that people who pass their individual responsibility onto others by doing things such as dropping a phone, cash, being careless in general or other dumb shit, don't deserve to be helped. I would rather help/ look out for someone who helps /looks out for themselves. If I drop my phone somewhere (wouldn't because I'm not careless, dumb, or irresponsible) I wouldn't blame someone for stealing it, because it was MY FAULT they were able to in the first place.

I just can't stand this bullshit idea in peoples head that people aren't themselves (and absolutely no one else) responsible for their life, belongings, and actions. If someone drops 100 dollars because they are careless, oblivious, and like most people walk through their day as a zombie...that is their own fault...not the next person who found it blowing in the wind.

If people took responsibility for themselves the world would be a fuckload better. But as we all know we are living in a welfare-mentality world where people can just get taken care of by others instead of doing it themselves.

Loving the mentality that some people are on welfare, so that gives you the right to steal everyone's shit.

Tasslehofp99
12-07-2013, 04:21 AM
I was implying that every individual is responsible for themselves and that the world would be such a better place to live if everyone took care of themselves and their own shit using that example.

Do you think it is anyone elses responsibilty to keep track of your belongings? If you are careless and lose something of value to you which is subsequently found by someone else, in my opinion, that's your loss.

I don't understand how some people can disagree with this without admitting.that they are unable to take care of themselves and require a babysitter to hold their hand through life.

Man I tell you what, you guys should be grateful you were born in developed nations instead of places where you would have to fight for a living, food, a place to live, because with that kind of attitude you would starve to death before your neighbor would offer you a bread crumb. If you had any sense of responsibility or pride you would agree that every person is responsible for their own life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. If you don't care enough to take care of your own life and belongings, you don't deserve either.

Reiker000
12-07-2013, 04:26 AM
So if I don't steal other people's shit, I "require a babysitter to hold my hand through life"? No, fuck you.

Some people fuck up sometimes. I'm sure you have as well. That doesn't mean you have the right to take advantage of them. Fuck off with that shit.

Reiker000
12-07-2013, 04:29 AM
Did you ever think that maybe the person who lost their phone has more responsibilities than you, and more shit on their mind than spending 6 hours a day on the emulated elf simulator forums bitching about who took whose dragons this week?

Skittlez
12-07-2013, 04:39 AM
So finding a random iPhone these days is considered stolen? Even in the shitter in an airport for example? I wasn't with him, but I know him very well and when he says he found a random phone I believe him. As for returning it, well, I wouldn't have taken it if he said he had stolen it. If it is marked as stolen then I am sure the owner would receive a new phone. In that case, I would just sell it for parts I suppose, that is if I don't just give it back to him. Not like I paid anything for it.

That's not what I said really. I meant more so that if you're incapable of keeping track of your cellphone then you can't blame the thief who takes it. It was your responsibility to keep your belongings safe and no one elses, to try and blame others for your irresponsibility is a cowardly thing to do. Its a very ugly character flaw to expect others to live your life for you.

Yous dumb.

Stupidity deserves to be punished, amiright? It's one thing to consider negative consequences of stupidity not being worthy of pity but it's quite another thing to think it should be punished.

Forgetting something or being distracted =/ stupidity.

Stop being a cunt and the OP should return the phone.

Black plague exists all over the planet, don't sleep in any mountain caves if you want to avoid it!

To address what you said though, carelessness is just a form of stupidity. If someone isn't careful enough to keep track of their belongings, who's fault is that but their own? How can any decent person sit here and argue otherwise? You're essentially saying that people should be expected to look after people who ARE CAPABLE of taking care of themselves but choose not to.

This is why humanity is doomed! If we just let natural selection do its job for a few hundred years place wouldn't suck so much.

Your logic is flawed.

If the person who lost his/her found expected other people to find their phone for them, that might make your argument valid.
Someone taking someone that doesn't belong to them is something entirely different.
Where are you getting this "people should be expected to look after people who ARE CAPABLE of taking care of themselves but choose not to" from?
And the latter part in bold is a simplistic and incorrect take on human nature. There's a difference between rewarding stupidity and condemning people for it. Throwing the whole "survival of the fittest" (which is a misapplied concept anyway) thing into this doesn't make sense.

Yes it's the person's fault for leaving their phone. It's also the fault of the person taking who took the phone. Regardless of the carelessness of the person who left their phone the OP is still trash if he doesn't return the phone.
To reiterate: I'm not saying he's trash for not seeing the phone and making an effort to return it to the rightful owner. He's trash for taking something that doesn't belong to him and keeping it.

You're an idiot if you walk through a dark alley in a dangerous part of the city but that doesn't take away the responsibility of the person who ends up occupying your anal cavity.

I'd like to discuss this over a cup of coffee if you have Skype by the way.

The Black Plague exists everywhere. In fact it occupies 50% of my bloodstream. Damn negroidians.

Doing things like this doesn't "teach" anybody anything, except to hurt other people.

I'm not a thief, never stolen in my life that I can recall. Its nice that due to my difference in opinion though that I've been flamed by you zombies, though. I got a few chuckles out of this thread, but to all the pussies that think "finders keepers, losers weepers" is a scummy thought process: you're all probably careless idiots.

Ill really get trolled for this: one time in 6th grade some dude stole my pokemon card binder that was worth probably as much as that Iphone. I never found out who it was but it WAS 100% my fault.that the cards were stolen because I put them in that position. I was irresponsible with my belongings, failed to keep them secure, and an opportunistic classmate of mine capitalized on MY MISTAKE. I don't blame anyone but myself, and the previous owner of that cellphone should feel the same way.

We just have different opinions, I learned my lesson in 6th grade. People = shit, always have and always will. The best are the people who act "holier than thou" like they have never/would never do anything wrong. These types of people are usually the biggest scumbags when no one is looking.

We live in a country that was founded on land soaked with the blood of generations of native americans, we vote for politicians who kill people all over the world without hesitation or reason, we wear diamonds which african kids probably lost fingers, hands, and arms for, we buy cheap electronics and clothing made by little 12 year old indian/chinese kids who work for pennies a day, the list goes on ...and all you phony zombies are going to sit there behind your computer screen and act as if morals have existed in this world for the last 200 years? That's hilarious to me.

Had my phone stolen by a crackhead friend-of-a-friend a few years back and found the identical model on a newspaper box the next day. I was out of a job at the time, in school very poor, couldn't afford to replace mine.

So it was fate, right? I should have just swapped the sim and gone about my business, right? It was the person's fault for leaving it behind anyways...

Turns out the girl who owned it was in the exact same situation as I was, too student-broke to replace it. Had I kept the phone, I would have put someone else in the same situation I hated being in.

You can sit around being angry and bitter at a world full of "Shitty People" or you can lead the charge and serve as an example of what you'd prefer those people to be.

Sure, there's no guarantee that the girl would do the same, but the chances are that much better now because of what I did for them.

I agree that the person who lost something can only really blame themselves, but are you really trying to justify taking it from them when you have the opportunity to easily get it back to them? That's disgusting.
