No one wants a good Star Wars movie to come out more than me. But they'll fuck it up guaranteed. Hollywood only makes movies based on franchised because it will make them money regardless of how shitty it is. Oh ya, and isn't the director the same guy who did the most recently Star Trek movies? JJ going to do fantastic on star wars.

He never "got" modern trek. Pretty sure he only looked at the inherently silly TOS episodes, and built off of that. All that evolved society stuff was flushed out ds9's faulty airlock.( Obrien will get it fixed next Tuesday)

My thoughts exactly. I was watching all sorts of interviews with the cast of the new Trek movies and on several occasions the actors were telling JJ how certain concepts would of been ridiculous in the Trek universe.

I can only imagine what was more ridiculous than 'red matter'. :eek:

Also they would never use any expanded universe stuff due to the royalty mess that would arise. Those books are not work for hire as far as I can tell. They were a separate entity/ip when lucas was around. Not sure now.

It's totally different than the marvel/sony stuff. Example: The wolverine is basically lifted entirely from larry hama. With no credit

Now they can steal the comic book stuff. But I would be surprised if they do any expanded U stuff.

I liked Michael Bay in the 90s, stopped paying attention to his work after the first Transformers movie, particularly when everyone said the second movie was worse.

My favorite Hollywood director is... well was Ridley Scott.

I liked the new star trek movies (I was never a star trek fan previously) and I'm staying optimistic about the new star wars.

I think the decision to base it on new stories (Nothing from EU) has pros and cons. They won't have to worry about being tied to any book or etc, and people won't be able to predict the movie, which makes it more appealing.

I find myself unable to wait years for sequels to finish a storyline if I know it's in a book somewhere. I just watched Hunger Games (original) for the first time the other day, then went to see Catching Fire, and I found myself reading up on the plot of the next two movies already >_>

That's as much a safeguard as anything. If the new stories blow, the backlash isn't quite as severe from the hardcore fans - they'll be able to continue with life and not "/wrists" knowing that their precious original trilogy at least hasn't been desecrated.

Lets face it, the prequels utterly destroyed the aura surrounding the original 3 films so anything they do now wont make a difference.
