Texas has a couple of solid blue cities, also it's cowboy south not inbred south. Big difference.

I sold ammo today. It was a great feeling. I didn't even need to ID the guy in the state I live and the ammo was stored openly near the front counter, not locked away.

That's not something to be proud of. If I wasn't one hundred percent sure you were a virgin I'd say something along the lines of "I hope your kids get killed with those bullets".

I don't know what time frame/world you live in, but I aint afraid/mad about it.

Seriously I don't think restricting power to police/military/certified/trained people only is a good idea.

I don't think its:

A. cost effective
B. appropriate
C. going to save lives

I'm not really that worried about it. Either your likely to get harmed by the abuse of power or some psycho.

I see ever increasing abuse of power in the USA at all levels and I know from life experience this is the major cause of violence along side poverty (as it causes more poverty and injustice).

Also the guy was some old dood who was buying a few rounds to either target practice, hunt, or kill vermin, something you still need to do occasionally around these parts/have the liberty to do.

I wouldn't sell it to a kid without an adult there anyway. Thats fuckin common sense.

Something people rely to much on the law, rules, whatever to dictate these days.

runlvlzero
11-19-2013, 11:25 PM
aka if you need a lawyer to understand and live, and be successful, in your life... what are you doing? Why are you allowing this situation to come to be through politics or whatever? What happened to your society?

Seriously, I know we have computers and stuff, but life is probably far simpler than it use to be in general. Most people are even more specialized than ever before in their skill sets, which is something we aught not to encourage even further.

Kagatob
11-19-2013, 11:33 PM
So long story short you are trying your ass off to rationalize the fact that you didn't ID the guy.

You think I give a rat's as about people purchasing weaponry? As long as the proper channels are followed, it's your right as a US citizen, provided you're not some nutcase.

You sir are part of the problem you fear and you don't even see it.

Also, if you are afraid that your peers can't judge a person enough to sell them some rifle ammo, holy crap, you have little faith in your peers

TBH I can understand. But I think with age you might 1 day realize its not that big of a deal.

Either a psycho kills you with a gun or somethin else. Make 1 rule. I.e.

Don't murder for no reason. Apply that rule to society equally, and you have a fairly just system.

What we are heading towards is pretty lopsided if you ask me. I hardly trust/believe most shit I see politically and I am ALSO a veteran.

I just know better. Give a man the right to make water rights and he'll throw you in jail for putting a barrel on your roof.

runlvlzero
11-19-2013, 11:46 PM
Alright and to just help you see my perspective a bit. I don't think there was every a violent murder here for 5 years straight, and one time it was a robbery were the guys getting robbed were shot ( a neighboor shot the robbers dead after the fact while they were fleeing the house after he heard gunshots) this was so out of the ordinary, whole city was going wtf..

And the other time a jealous boyfriend killed an innocent bystander on accident in his rage at a gas station.

This is years apart.

In both cases violence probably would have happened and people may have died regardless of guns or not.

But it happens so infrequently that there is no real good reason to go all 3rd riech on gun control and shit here.

11-19-2013, 11:47 PM
maybe even been 10 since years, if you count the city proper and not the huge swath of county that it serves.

Also I think mandatory firearm training before purchasing an actual firearm is not too much to ask if you think i'm some kind of extremist.

Listen while Eugenics might be fun (and possibly lucrative to the right parties). It's not going to solve the gun problem or make the world a better place.

runlvlzero
11-20-2013, 12:11 AM
And actually I think classical eugenics is a bad idea.

I'm not sure what the term for a Gattaca like system of approving reproduction would be like. But I just disprove of people freely making babies they can't take care of.

Kagatob

My point is that you want to limit the rights of who can breed but somehow you think it's fine to have no legislation of firearms.

runlvlzero
11-20-2013, 12:12 AM
And in the process burdening society. From that perspective I can understand why having guns freely and readily available leads to a similar situation. Though with more gun deaths vs resource waste and systemic economic failure.

Eh you make a good point.

Let me pose these following questions though. And I gather your answer already but.

Would gun control or reproductive control contribute more to the wellbeing of society overall? Where should we focus our efforts most?

Obviously my answers are, reproductive control would have a high priority, while gun control should have a low and unobtrusive level of focus.

runlvlzero
11-20-2013, 12:22 AM
My justification for my answer, is higher quality of life + people + education would mean gun control would be virtually unnecessary, but thats an idealistic situation and may not be entirely realistic.

If your argument is that "we already have issues with urban crowding, with low living standards" and "therefor in those situations gun control would be more beneficial" I could even bring myself to agree with your point of view.

runlvlzero

But than, America is a huge place. I don't think the federal government is the right place to enact stricter controls. This should be relegated to state firearm/tobacco/and alcohol baeuro (even though many are corrupt since the prohibition).

runlvlzero
11-20-2013, 12:28 AM
To be honest the only reason to do it at the Federal level is to use military force or FBI, NSA, CIA, TSA, etc to enforce it.
