View Full Version : The solution to raid target monoplization; Custom World Raids
Once a month spawn a dragon that is impossible to take down via one guild. Make a checklist of tasks to do that involve multiple guilds to take out the most important boss mobs each month to unlock the spawning of this dragon.
Have this once a month dragon drop customized loot that would incentivize the top guild to give up important raid targets to smaller guilds throughout the month.
= Entire Community wins.

I doubt you've read most of his threads...have you?
aka: Incentivizing the community to utilize an alliance rotation of sorts in order to attain the best loot in the game (via the once a month dragon) but not forcing it upon them.
Guilds could still decide not to do this if it was not in their best interest.

i've mostly just read the titles
still tho
EQMac refugee comes to another classic server and suggests some very very non-classic ideas
i don't get it
How is that non classic? In kunark on rallos zek GMs would spawn community raid dragons in the kunark era during multiple holidays.
Not to mention the legends server did stuff like this every night.

Seems silly. And takes too much staff work.
How about:
No Variance.
10 versions of each raid boss spawn at once across the world, only one drops loot. Respawn timer doesnt start until all are killed, or they all despawn when the loot mob dies.

If ib/fe and tmo combine to kill any mob 3 times in a row, those guilds are not allowed to engage next spawn. Example tmo kills vs 3 times in row they cannot engage 4th. If fe/ib kill vs 2 times in a row andtmo kills next, niether guild can participate on 4 th. Its not a rotation, and the bigger guilds let the next guilds have the chance to compete for raid mobs.

Or to make it simpler if ib/fe/tmo kill any mob 3 times in row, no matter the combination, the 4th spawn would be open to rest of server to compete. Tmo has said before they would share raid mo s if they believed fe wouldnt kill them, so heres the chance for the 2 high end raiding forces to give back to the community. 4 th mob would be untouchable by fe/ib/tmo for 4 hours after spawn, would really help out raid scene

Monthly guild raid suspensions. A simple perfect way.

Who has the most guild raid suspensions on Blue?

This actually sounds pretty cool

Why is everyone trying to come up with a solution to this. If the server ain't broken dont't fix it. Why not talk to the real problems, FE, TMO, IB another other guild leadership for a rotation

I've said it before but it bears repeating: No amount of code will fix broken people.
Best way to fix server's raid scene would be if we could all pitch in and hire a community therapist. That way, whatever it is that causes some folks to derive self-worth from dragon-slaying might be healed and P99 will stop dominating their lives.

Best solution imo: release a bunch of new zones with tons of more raid encounters. Maybe make 3 different factions to make it difficult for one guild to monopolize all the raid content. We could even call it an "expansion". I always liked Everfrost, maybe make it a cold weather/icy/snowy type new continent.
None of this is classic though so it will never get done, doh!

Instead of dragon spawns, have npc's that spawn -- kind of like that idiot in PoS -- and have it be like a multiquest that can only be done by members from different guild.
So, the npc spawns, and he needs, for example, a feather, a helm, a dagger, and 90k plat. The feather and the helm can be random drops *from any zone* and only are on that one random mob. So for example, the feather is put into a random mob from Odus *but no one knows that*. This will require guilds to kill everything in the world to get the drops, because no one knows where the drops actually are. It would be highly unlikely one guild could farm the entire world, amirite?
Ok, but it gets better. The npc spawns, and says the items he needs to spawn the dragon (but, as noted, not where these items are). The NPC despawns in 24 hours, and and asks for different items each time. So the server has 24 hours to find those items. Which are random drops off any mob in any zone, including the cities.
Wait it gets better. After the race to find the items, the guilds with the items do the hand in. But, *the npc is always only really excited about one of the items* which, again, is random and no one will know who has it until the npc responds to the turn in.
Which ever guild had the special item gets automatic FTE, because the dragon spawns on the person who turned it in, which is otherwise notrade.
There. I think I topped the OP in terms of sheer absurd fuckery.
My idea is the most classic, the easiest to implement and fixes the problem in the least intrusive way possible.
These other ideas are shit.
And yes, this idea does fall under the scope of "classic" people who say otherwise never played EQ back in its kunark days and is just acting like they did.
Or a guild could actually put in the time and effort and kill stuff, rather then just bitching on the forums for hand outs?
Its not about handouts, its about whoever engages first gets the target which is kind of lame and this would minimize poopsocking which equally gay.

I think this thread is really about how gay you really are, I mean really really
