As for the game, I'm having a wonderful time, despite The High Asshole Element (TM). In a fairly decent guild, whose members don't give 3 shits about the bile us dumbasses spew on the forums, and who care a lot more about having fun and enjoying each others' company than shitting on each other over loot and obtuse guild politics. By and large, we ignore a lot of the trash that permeates Project 1999, and focus more on enjoying Classic Everquest while it lasts. We also talk about Megan Fox. A lot. Unnaturally so.

The only thing you dicks accomplished (which is a stretch of the word, reading old posts was by no means clever or innovative) was cockblock me out of the hardcore raiding scene, which I should actually probably thank you for, because while you turds are shitting in socks, exploiting pathing, talking shit ingame and on the forums about everyone who calls you out for being said turds, losing your jobs, alienating your families and friends, freaking out over loot that will be obselete in 6 months, cheating and scamming each other, and generally fulfilling the stereotype of the hardcore gamer, the rest of us are actually ENJOYING logging in and playing.

Not to shit on everyone else in Divinity, though. They're by far the most pleasant raiding guild on the server to deal with, and there's only one bad apple in the bunch. I hold no ill will to them, and fully expect them to end up being the go-to guild to join once all of DA and IB's leadership gets banned.

I used to think that casual play was for people that couldn't hack it in hardcore raiding. But what I've come to realize is that hardcore play is for people who can't hack it in casual gaming. :P

I dont consider myself self centered, crude for sure, but thats life. Being crude is life, I dont know a single person on this shard RL so I dont see any reason to make them think Im the best person in the world with how I feel about or view things.

Im actually a fairly good person for the most part. Take care of my family, help friends and family when they ask for it, hell Ive even donated to some various charities when I could, Im not the richest SOB so I cant give thousands, but I do donate when I feel I can spare it and not hurt my families needs.

Being self-interested is an important trait of humanity. There's an evil in altruism if it is used as a weapon against people who you think "aren't altruistic enough." It's a common argument against people who are simply stating facts and explaining reality.

We should be more concerned about those close to us than those who aren't - if no other reason because we can only be equitable to the people we interact with if we limit that scope. If we assume it is our responsibility to "care" or "be more empathetic to everyone in the world," we end up strangling ourselves by trying to go out and find every tragedy at which to cry every day of our life. There's enough evil in the world to keep us occupied forever.

It's far wiser to find a close group of friends and family and do what you can within that scope. Human beings are far more effective at being "empathetic" to their close associations than they are to everyone else around the world, and rightly so - should I sacrifice my family to go "be empathetic" about someone 10,000 miles away? Sure, I care about that person as a human being, but my efforts, emotion, and passion must be directed closeby, where it actually has potency.

How can I call someone else a shallow human being simply because I am not within their scope of intimate fellowship? That doesn't mean I can't be charitable or friendly with them. It just means I do not deal as closely with them as I would, say, a friend i've known and closely interacted with for 10+ years, and rightly so. Just a fact of human relationship.

I know a person who worked in that building daily but for some fortuitous chance did not go into the city that day. Everytime I take the train or drive into the city, I see the empty space of skyline where those towers are no longer. Being at ground zero is a harrowing experience.

His statement of "get over it" was in a clear tone of forget it happened, who cares about it. History should not be forgotten, especially an event of that magnitude.

In this case, it wasn't even interaction INSIDE the game. At all. It was interaction on the RANTS N' FLAMES SECTION. And in truth, it's only like 5 fuckfaces with several alt forum accounts. 2 of them have been banned from the game since, and one of them is on the verge of being so. So it's not a big deal to me. I just enjoy watching Phallax's spelling get worse as he gets pissed off at me.....although I'm sure bouncing on President's pseudopole while he's typing has the same effect. :P
