Obviously I don't think Bethesda is checking these forums nor searching for my IP address so before people come in here with the OMG YOU ARE BREAKING THE NDA I ask that you just chill out. Game looks pretty solid, I was amazed at how much like Skyrim it looks like. I figured since it was a MMO the graphics would be a lot worse but it's pretty damn awesome looking. The beginning are alone was more awesome than a lot of end game content. The skill system and weapon system was a lot of fun to tinker with and leaves plenty of room for customization as you can really set yourself apart from others of your same class. I am a little bummed about a 15 dollar monthly fee as I feel that is quite high but after playing I feel it is pretty quality of a game.

Also, the pvp sounds pretty crazy with full scale battlefield number pvps. Encampments and outposts, siege weapons, and vehicles hopefully they can get some great large scale medieval action going. Not to mention that the faction who controls the Imperial City, the top rated player from that faction will be crowned emperor. I bet that's giving all the l337 players wet dreams at night. Hopefully we will actually get a decent mmo nowadays for a change?

I don't mind $15/month if they're not trying to cram DLC/shiny mounts in on top of it for extra.

All sounds very positive...very hard to make any online game that players really stick to. WoW was arguably the last one and its about time we had something fresh enough that everyone will like and play.

By vehicles I don't mean cars and jets I meant like siege weapons and battering rams and wagons to carry players. I honestly didn't think anyone was going to think I was talking about tanks and humvees but whatever.

Yeah I'm dying to get back to some of gameplay as I only got to play on my one hero. Only one of the alliances was open and it was the won with the dark elves, argonians, and nords so I made a Dark Elf sorcerer with a destruction staff. The other staff I could have used was the restoration staff. The sorcerer had 3 skills trees and you can either specialize in one area or mix and match. I concentrated on the dark magic line which was mostly disables and CC of the sort, I was thinking after that thought the restoration staff might have been cool because I could have had disables/cc and some healing action. I wanted to really have utility, but not to say the destruction staff was by no means not fun because it was awesome. The other 2 lines for sorcerer was Summoning and Storm Calling with summoning obviously you have your pets such as the different atronachs and familiars and Storm Calling dealing with lightning nukes.

The other classes that were playable at the time was Dragonknight which sounded pretty damn cool I can't wait to mess around with that class. Then there was the Templar which sounded like a melee tank with heals, though I was wandering if this Templar class for heals would be better off going with a restoration staff for even more heals IDK though. Of course sorcerer which I went over and then Nightblade which was the assassin type class. Of course there are more races and classes but so far these are the only unlocked ones in beta. The other 2 alliances that are together is the wood elves, high elves, and khajit. Seems like that alliance will be hard pressed in pvp because I believe those are the least played races for ES players. The third alliance consists of Bretons,Orcs, and Redguard. I don't believe you can actually play as the Imperials which kind of sucks since they were an awesome race.

The game is going to be released on consoles which, knowing bethesda, more than likely means a substandard pc version that has been crippled by the corporate necessity to efficiently cater to consoles.

There is a mix of both. For big time content and loot it will be contested. Yes this was a biggy for me, contested content and loot in 2014! I did this one dungeon where I had to keep coming back to kill the necromancer boss.

Kagatob
09-07-2013, 04:45 PM
so wait, you are saying that there is a real loot system instead of that next gen you only see your loot table and everyone gets a handout crap?

Soandso
09-07-2013, 04:46 PM
Also one of the cooler mechanics I saw was mobs using their abilities in synergy. For instance when fighting one mob I was rooted the mob attacking me backed up and used arrows while another mob casted an AE burn on the area I was rooted in.

Soandso
09-07-2013, 04:47 PM
I'm not sure on that as I didn't kill any raid bosses but I haven't seen anything saying so but I did see stuff that said there will be contested loot. Now I don't know if that means just contesting to get the spot or the kill (apparently the group that gets the most dps in gets the kill and loot) but I don't know if the loot that drops will go to the whole group or just singular persons sorry :(

Kagatob
09-07-2013, 04:49 PM
well how did loot work in the group's you did?

Soandso
09-07-2013, 04:55 PM
In once case we all got loot but it was different loot. In another case this was a instanced quest dungeon and it was one set of loot and we just doled it out based on who could use what IE, a robe went to the caster and the melees got the melee weapons etc.

Soandso
09-07-2013, 04:56 PM
So since that second scenario was in a instance I do not know how the loot works for a contested areas mob drops in a non instance.

Kagatob
09-07-2013, 05:00 PM
the first scenario is a complete deal breaker for me, I'd like to know how prevalent that immersion obliterating mechanic is in the game.

Soandso
09-07-2013, 05:11 PM
yeah I hear ya man thats why we play EQ right? If it was up to me there would be zero instances. i'm guessing it is probably going to be at least moderately prevalent.

there are siege weapons. dunno if u can ride on them though :P
you are wrong about elves though. a LOT of pvpers are going elven because 1) they get more targets, and 2) LONG LIVE THE QUEEN. but Ebonheart will have the most. personally ill be with the Elves and Cats. and no Imperials are not a playable race. daggerfall will be the ghosttown

is it open world or instancing?
Cyrodil is open world, home regions look to have more of the instanced crap. your main story is 100% instanced to you (no pals allowed). but there will be both public and instanced dungeons

The game is going to be released on consoles which, knowing bethesda, more than likely means a substandard pc version that has been crippled by the corporate necessity to efficiently cater to consoles.
dont go tinfoil. the game was planned for PC and began development back in 2007. they have said that if anything console gamers will be at a disadvantage in the ESO mmo because Mouse&Keyboard is worlds faster than a console controller, also, in ESO currently they dont have a way for the player mods to go to console (currently halted by restrictions that microsoft and Sony have for their stuff). Console versions didnt start til early 2012.

so wait, you are saying that there is a real loot system instead of that next gen you only see your loot table and everyone gets a handout crap?
Sorry, Loot will be instanced to each groupparty member, gone are the days of manually rolling for an item. obviously this wouldnt be the case if another alliance was involved. but instanced loot is 100% in the game.

I can deal with that if its stuff like gnomish fireworks in EQ, nothing game breaking or putting others at an advantage in combat. I just hope it won't end in things like mining/herbing (WoW example) 20% quicker, or 5% faster mounts. I doubt they'd be so stupid, but nothing surprises me with the gaming industry anymore :p

Yeah SirkenYou Are Right About The Races. Thinking About It Nobody Really Plays Orc Which Is Wierd Because They Own So Hard And Nobody Plays Redguards Because Like Erudites Apparently Nobody Likes To Play As A Black Person. The Dunmer Nords And Argonians Will dominate. They Will Be The Planetside 2 Terran Republic Equivalent. I Think It Was A Stupid Idea To Put Dunmer And Nords Together Since They Are Fresh In Peoples Minds From Skyrim And Everyones Love Fo Morrowind

you are 100% correct imo. DEs and Nords will be the top choices because DEs are always popular as hell (and morrowind), and then the most recent game is Skyrim, ie: Nords. they will have a TON of people. and then elves/cats and redguard/orc/breton in third.

dont hate on Erudites bro, my two chars on EQLive were Erudites!

Not that I had any high hopes or plans to play, but thats the nail in the coffin. I can't think of a worse game mechanic. Why even have other players in the game if your interaction with them is limited to healing and chatting only?

Honestly, the whole idea of giving loot based on what classes and how many people kill something (or complete a quest) is really not a whole lot different than finding coins on animals (I didn't know snakes carry money!) or not finding a snake fang on EVERY snake or looting more than the creature could reasonably carry. Is it realistic for creatures to respawn or for chests to spawn or for items to become no drop or??

MMORPGs don't have to be realistic and that's part of the reason they're fun for players.

I myself prefer simulation-style MMORPGs because they do these kinds of tricks less and are more about the physics than the fun, but they're not popular and are hard to find and it gets me into arguments with others - it's a pain sometimes. Generally, I find what I'm looking for. Maybe I'm this way because I have less imagination than others and can't immerse in something that doesn't feel 'right' to me.

I think ESO seems like it could be fun if you look past these kinds of things. I wonder how it will handle multi-classing, if at all? Respeccing without restarting seems to be popular in MMORPGs now. For example, in EQN they want to have you collect class abilities and there 100+ and you can combine them in any fashion. This means it's multi-classed and you can essentially respec at any time if you have the ability.

Soandso

I don't think the guild cap limit is that big of a deal being it's 300 people and most guilds that large are just made up of alts anyways. Also the fact that you can be be in 5 different guilds is kind of cool I guess. Granted I don't seen the need for a guild limit cap.

It looks just as good as Skyrim or ALMOST just as good. I was really surprised how great the graphics were given it was a MMO. As far as gameplay wise it is just like Skyrim except online. The skill and leveling up system is different but other than that it is what it's title is Elder Scrolls Online.

I'm going Daggerfall. I loved that game and always wanted to see it with modern graphics. I'm wondering how large Daggerfall city is in this game, because in Daggerfall it was pretty damned big, almost realistically so.

I'll be avoiding the dunmer zerg, just like I avoided the horde in WoW and the defiants in Rift.

When is this game due?

Coins on animals is what you rip out of their stomach after the kill, the coins came from the mob's previous victims.
or not finding a snake fang on EVERY snake or looting more than the creature could reasonably carry.
That one's easy, the fangs could break during the fight. Also can you cite some examples about the carrying capacity part? I don't see any faeries/pixies with backpacks/broadswords, only little piercing weapons wings and dust.
Is it realistic for creatures to respawn or for chests to spawn or for items to become no drop or??
