Been cutting out soda for a while with the exception of a coke zero if I need the caffeine at work. I couldn't resist getting one of these though. I'm laughing still every time I look at the can.
The only thing that would make it better is if it were Terry Crews.

You are better off just drinking regular soda bro.
And if you don't want to drink soda, why not just drink black coffee or tea for your caffeine needs?

Enjoy your brain eating Aspartame Pop. Sugar would be a lot better, considering.
Aspartame is harmless compared to 61 grams of useless HFCS going into your blood. And if you're referring to phenylketonuria, that is a genetic disorder and is not caused by artificial sweetener. Your chances of having it are 1 in 15,000 and it sounds like you probably do.
Ask a medical doctor the top 3 things anyone can do right now to improve your health. They will say quit smoking, quit full calorie soda, exercise for 30 minutes a day.

brotha bard always got the right idea.
I can't stand soda anymore. I will very rarely have a coke or dr. pepper, usually when its forced on me. Shit is so bad for you, and honestly doesn't taste nearly as good as ice water. Doesn't hydrate you the same way either because of all the sodium.
I'd try me some shaq-cola though. I'm a sucker for that kinda shit.

And yeah, to backup what a couple other people were saying, diet soda is fucking awful for you, calories or no, and researchers are starting to find out that aspartame may actually INCREASE weight gain, instead of helping you lose it.
Stay away from that aspartame! If you're drinking it every day you need to stop.

I got a liter bottle of water and just drink that, making sure to refill it on the hour. You'd be surprised how much a difference it makes in overall feeling. Plus you go pee a lot.
I pretty much only drink water. And coffee. Energy sodas with liquor ye tru but I aint even an alcoholic anymore just a drunk

Yup pretty much same here. I get the biggest bottle I can find and still carry on my person/in my backpack comfortably and refill is as often as needed.

lurn2science.
Aspartame thus far has only been proven to have negative effects when consumed in copious amounts ala drinking a 2-liter bottle a day. Small diet soda 2-3 times a week isn't gonna do shit.
And yeah, to backup what a couple other people were saying, diet soda is fucking awful for you, calories or no, and researchers are starting to find out that aspartame may actually INCREASE weight gain, instead of helping you lose it.
Thus far the independent studies are all still pointing towards portion control problems that drinking diet isn't enough to fix.

Should have mentioned that studies pointing to aspartame = weight gain are still in the early stages, and haven't found anything conclusive yet.
Aspartame and other sweeteners for sure linked to a ton of health issues when consumed in large amounts OR regular use for long periods of time.
honestly that shit is just nasty to begin with. I guess I'm kind of picky though, i generally don't even like eating/drinking foods with fructose in them. Not that I don't enjoy the taste, I'd just rather be putting good sugars in my body than bad ones.

you do know that replacing glucose with artificial sweeteners can impair your body's response to actual glucose, right?
put that in your science.

Its a good thing I love me some ice water. I need to find one of those big insulated mugs, like they give out in hospitals. I bring an insulated cup to work filled with ice water, and just refill it with water later... its not nearly large enough.

It's been known that aspartame causes brain tumors in rats since 1975. The CEO of Searle, Donald Rumsfeld made sure aspartame made it through the FDA vetting process but sucking a lot of Reagan era Republican cock. None of this hidden.
no1 ever believes me :(
also should be noted Searle was acquired by Monsanto

Going to link some stuff from science based medicine website:
http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/are-artificial-sweeteners-safe/
Scientific Studies Aspartame has been found to be safe for human consumption by the regulatory agencies of more than ninety countries worldwide, with FDA officials describing aspartame as “one of the most thoroughly tested and studied food additives the agency has ever approved” and its safety as “clear cut.”
When the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Food evaluated aspartame, (http://ec.europa.eu/food/fs/sc/scf/out155_en.pdf) they found over 500 papers on aspartame published between 1988 and 2001. It has been studied in animals, in various human populations including infants, children, women, obese adults, diabetics, and lactating women. Numerous studies have ruled out any association with headaches, seizures, behavior, cognition, mood, allergic reactions, and other conditions. It has been evaluated far more extensively than any other food additive.
When new rat studies by the Ramazzini Foundation in Italy (http://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/topics/topic/aspartame.htm) appeared to show an association with tumors, the European Food Safety Authority examined Ramazzini’s raw data and found errors that made them discredit the studies. Their updated opinion based on all the data available in 2009 said there was no indication of any genotoxic or carcinogenic potential of aspartame and that there was no reason to revise their previously established ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) for aspartame of 40 mg/kg/day. Studies have shown that actual consumption is well below that limit.
People who are absolutely convinced they get adverse effects from aspartame have been proven wrong. For instance, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3657889) of people who reported having headaches repeatedly after consuming aspartame. When they knew what they were consuming, 100% of them had headaches. In a double blind crossover trial, when they didn’t know what they were getting, 35% had headaches after aspartame, and 45% had headaches after placebo.

With this said, I have no doubt that people in this thread will still maintain their very strong belief that they are correct and no amount of scientific evidence will sway them. They want to believe that the world is out to get them, so they invent ridiculous conspiracy theories and hold onto them with a death-grip, regardless of evidence.
