I think from what I have seen, they have shown the ability of players for the first time (Realistically) being able to destroy/create an environment in an MMO.

Gameplay mechanics comes next(they showed combat, but they did not show the penalties of death, etc. they didn't show immersive connections between players & community + any type of penalty systems yet)

I would expect this stuff to get released in a similar fashion the way this reveal was done.

Sure. That's the sort of thing I would not play. I see where you are comming from. I have not seen anything damning about these graphics though, and they only showed the "good" more "pretty races".

I was talking to my RL buds, and we are wondering about what the Dwarves will look like, or Ogres, Trolls etc. They can go the polar opposite of the prettier races, and look downright disgusting like eq1. I think this sort of difference is going to be pretty crucial to people wanting the nit and gritty look, or the pretty. It *could* be appealing to all.

these devs have it all wrong... the combat system looked lame as shit considering the warrior had a total of two abilities - ground smash and spin...

Not impressed ... they have some good ideas... getting the community to develop the environment for them is ok.... saves time in the development process etc...

Making Ogres not look like classic models is super lame... they aren't barbarians... they are ogres. They aren't tacticians they are bumbling butt scratching ogres and everyone loves them.

Clearly disappointed with some of their decisions but will try it to see if it's a total fail like I expect.

The thing that made EQ great was grouping... it was HIGH risk vs REWARD... harder the more reward etc... these chars were smashing 20+ mobs with ease...

Also... I like the idea of these rally calls... but I'm confused at how it will play out with your character due to the screenshots they showed... is that the map function that shows the progress ??? Still a ton of answers to be had. I hope I get a beta key and can test this shit out before wasting money on it.

Face it guys, we lived through the golden age of mmorpgs. All of this shit that's come out since 2001 is utter shit created simply to milk the new age gamers for all the cash they can get. Its no longer about the game to the developers but about money and how to target the demographic they know will give them the most money. These games are made for WoW/LOL type gamers (kids) and lets face it...we aren't kids anymore. Even if we struggle daily to keep that 12 yr old kid inside of us all who first loaded into norrath and was instantly immersed.


Bottom line, they need to start from scratch again because aside from the name...this game is not eq. Its just using eqs name to rip off people like us who long for those golden days again.

Multiclassing was a huge turn-off for me and its looking pretty damn cool. You can't unlock and get every class/spell. You level your "active" class by playing it and finding things/cues to unlock advanced tiers, so unlocking tier 4 abilities might require a bunch of hidden cues like having a set of tier 3 armor etc.

And finding classes depends on your actions, if you're a dick you won't be able to become a paladin, though you might unlock the shadow knight class if you play your cards right.

Everything from what quests you can unlock to mob AI fighting tactics are influenced by your characters storybrick progression, all of which is hidden to you. There's no list of what you need to do in order to unlock X class, Y ability, Z quest. It just happens or it doesn't based on your in game actions.

Wow wasn't even fun to me, even the pvp was shitty.
Rather play games designed for pvp like shooters or RTS games.
Instances ruin the classic MMO feel for me, makes the world feel small.
I would prefer huge sprawling dungeons with traps and mazes and tons of other players around to socialize with. Why would I play an MMORPG to sit in an instanced dungeon by myself or a limited amount of people clearing it once and then leave?

And instanced raids? Pls I'm gonna puke.

And that was with Shaman healer during season 3 (if you know which season it was ... needless to say there aren't many Shamans who go that ;)).

Still think instances and cartoonish graphics for EqNext would totally suck. And the attacks feel like playing a console fighting game, nothing close to some tough and epic fight :confused:

Some people like competition and are good enough or play with enough to counter any griefing. Instances are ok though as long as there are still some competitive content.

GW2 has everything I wanted in an MMO and I still quit playing it after 4 months.

I mean it has easy story mode dungeons for the masses and harder explorable mode for the more hardcore gamers. It has awesome jumping puzzles, fun achievements, exciting world vs world vs world Pvp with siege. Dynamic events. Huge dragon fights. Personal story.

I guess modern MMOs just suck.
